Recently my fuel gauge malfunctioned.
It wouldn't register fuel in tank. When I filled tank a couple times gauge worked but as soon as a gallon was used it would drop off.
Now gauge not working and wrench appears code flash 246c and check engine light on says reduced engine power and says drive to clean exhausts emissions.
No miles to empty registered as it reads --- miles to empty
Any ideas?
Also... What's this about egr replacement and should I contact Ford for this as I had no notification.?
Ooops...I have 2011 f250 SD 6.7

Reason: Add information
For what ever reason, if the fuel gauge doesn't work, it will not allow the truck to regen the particulate filter. You will have to replace the gauge cluster. There is nothing wrong with the emission equipment. I had a 2012 model service truck that suffered the same problem.

Are you talking about the dash gauge or somewhere else
I am talking about the dash gauge pod. It is all one piece including the speedometer, tachometer, and all other gauges. It has to be flashed with the vin number for the vehicle it is to be installed in.

When I first turn key to on position fuel gauge and others cycle ok...but when engine is running there's nothing😮...oh...according to odometer I have 202000 on truck.
I believe the odometer is wrong cuz there's no way I've put 75k on this truck in a year and a half😮

Reason: Adding vital info
If you have one of the cell phone or computer based scanners you should be able to check fuel level reading to know if it's the gauge cluster or the sender itself. I would guess that the ECM is going by the sender to determine you have no fuel rather than what the gauge says.
Have you tried running the engineering test mode to see what you get?

NOT sure what apps I can get on cellphone to scan or even how to do it but I haven't done anything yet but wiggle connection at tank...nothing happened.
Probably the sending unit went bad???
You need a bluetooth or wifi adapter that pugs into the OBD port. The apps will provide more info than a handheld scanner.
Either that or have a dealer scan it to determine the issue before you replace the cluster which may not be the issue. The engineering scan you can do with an ignition key sequence.

Ok...should be able to Google app for this.
I may have cable for obd...I hope.

You can use the Torque app for Android phones to read codes, although you will need a OBDII Bluetooth module.
You can also read codes, gauge sweep test and check the fuel level with Engineering Test Mode. To access it, hold down the "down arrow" button on the left hand steering control and turn on your truck.
If you have a windows based laptop and an OBD USB Cable or WiFi or Bluetooth way to connect it to the laptop - get the Forscan program (it's free). IMHO, it has more diagnostic capabilities than Torque Pro... Forscan for Ios or Android is NOT the same as the one for the PC. The PC has better diagnostic routines on it.
