I was lucky enough to get the manager of "O'Really?", helping me this morning!

Me: Good morning, 1978 f100 351m
Him: What part do you need?
Me: I need a power valve.
Him: a what?
Me: a power valve for a Motorcraft 2150
Him: what size engine
Me: doesn't matter but 351m
Him: intake or exhaust?
Me: look up 1978 F100 351m
Him: I already know the engine size. I need to know intake or exhaust valve.
Me: bro, power valve is for the carb, car-bur-e-tor
Him: oh, we dont have for Motorcraft, only holley

Me:
Him:

Me: 1978.......f100.....351m
Him: f150?

...

It's going going to a drive thru and asking for a #4 and they always ask if you want the combo! Number 4 IS a combo, not a sandwich!!!

Or I say I want a black coffee, and they ask how many creams and sugars?!?!?!

I learned a long time ago to go on their website first, look the part(s) up you need and write down the part numbers or, just print the parts pages out and take them with you when you walk into your local store. Hand it to them and tell them this is what you need. It (generally) cuts down on a lot of confusion on their end if you do this.

Yeah, I screenshot website photo and part number and show it to them. This time, I wanted to see what came up because a lot of times the website has more than I can get locally. I just figured a guy about my age....the manager...?

Hahaha...We've all been there...well, I know I have, a few times at different parts stores and damn near exactly what you went through.

I'll betcha the Power Valve you wanted was hangin' on the wall right behind him, too.

I normally do the search and bring the info to the parts store but the last time I was having problems getting info on the 4 bbl carb on my 75 f250 390 auto. The rebuild kit that the parts clerck came up with wound up being for a carter 1 bbl, the next guy went through the book and didn't stop til he found all the info he could about the carb. Turns out that this carb is a 4125 not a 4150 or 60 and is an odd ball that is hard to get specific parts for, he suggested that when the chance comes that I buy a 4150 and have my brother set it up for the 390. The second parts clerc wasn't a white boy but was someone who was used to making things work back down in Mexico, he's been here for at least 20 years and has been there, done that. Experience really helps when ordering parts for our old trucks.

That's what they do when they can't think of anything else to charge you for because every one can do well without it.

You figured wrong. Looking back, my mistake(s) in life were mostly assuming that just about everybody else were raised right and were decent people. Like my parents tried to do. Oops. There's a ****load of idiots out there, and they often dress nice and sometimes even talk and look normal. Don't be fooled.

1974/76 F100/350 390 4V's came with Holley carbs.

If the manifold and carb were swapped from a '65/71 car, the 4V would be an Auto-Lite, because...

There was no such thing as Motorcraft until 1973.

Does that go for 360s as well? If so Would I have had a Holley from the factory instead of the current 2bbl motorocraft on my 74 f250 360?

No 360 came with a 4V carb, all were 2V's.
