Why wait for rust?
Fill a spray bottle with this and go to town! If you respray it in 3-4 coats over a week or so, your results will be more consistant and blended.
1/2 bottle-white distilled vinegar
1/2 bottle-hydrogen peroxide
1/2 teaspoon-table salt
Measurements are whatever, do what you have available.

I have rubbed some off, and removed more paint in that picture, but it I sprayed it and left it alone, it turns out like the dark area.
There is a product that they sell at Home Depot called Penetrol. It supposedly stops the rusting process and seals it. I am not sure about it though, I havent gotten any yet.

Lol What you guys do not have "old VW dune buggies" out there in Cali? I have a title for it and am going for a "specialty constructed vehicle" tag/license.
The smog laws here are getting even tighter by 2020. I hear that there is talk about stricter regs on off road vehicles coming down the line. With zero emissions vehicles being mass produced, Cali is funneling us all into the shoots.
