Nice bright red tomato truck Rick.
I bought an 04 Mustang last spring and it only took a month to learn how to drive it, took awhile to get used to only having 4 wheels instead of 6. Having my azz dragging on the pavement was an experience that I hadn't had since I got my 1.6 litre formula liscence close 40 years ago.
Yes newer truck and wrong season, but always be careful when you lift the hood. I did have a rather large blacksnake in the summer time get in and hang out in the 73 Bronco on the stuff on the passenger side inner fenderwell. Yes he startled me a bit. And on my 79 I had a big skin shed on the speedo cable under the power brake booster/master cylinder. And a skin shed on the inside under the seat of my red 79 IN the shop. The trans tunnel cover is off.....
I second that. Other than ticks and mosquitoes, which almost everyone has, really the only thing to look out for are brown recluse and hobo spiders. One of the perks of living in the “Emerald Crescent” aka the coastal green zone of the Pacific Northwest. Downfalls, moisture, which isn’t always good to our vintage iron.
Thanks for the link reminder, I believe they have been around for quite a while. I always dream of putting an all 1979 fiberglass body from them on a 4wd F250 custom tube chassis mud racer. Flip front end covering a full blown 460 punched out to a 572 with a blower and of course with a double shot of nitrous.
I have the LB frame, Dana 60 axles, motor still in 460 stock form , NP-205, 8" all spring kit and some 44's and the class II certified race car chassis to top off the frame. Just need the time to put it together. The smaller version one is a 73 Bronco running gear 85 Mustang 302 and some 37x14.50's.
I wish I could get/afford a "new" truck...but I got the next best thing IMO... a "newer" truck. A clean bright red 2007 F150 4wd Crew cab. I am ditching the blingy bling rims for some OEM FX4 18's. It is a nice space upgrade from the 2000 4wd Ranger ext cab run around rig.
Congrats on the new to you truck Rich. I hope you have many trouble free miles with that truck. Also have you ever gotten the cab of your silver truck fixed?
Well so far on the new to me 07 red Ford I have added a Craigslist HD American made brush guard/push bar (deer bar) off a police Ford F150. Added some Craigslist found FX4 OEM wheels, 285/70/18 BFG AT's, OEM running boards (ditched the nerf bars). Got all my seat covers on. In the track vent shaded. Had to get the PDR guy to take out the 28 hail dents in the hood fender tops from the storm I got caught in. I am looking to some quality fit OEM mud flaps next.
Generally speaking I am still liking the truck.
The world has a pandemic. Most manufacture plant shut down. People get bored and pick up new hobbies in the outdoors. They buy all the bicycles, kayaks, guns, ammo, fishing gear, and camping equipment. Now the regular outdoorsman has to suffer because people suck and buy out all the stuff. I'm ready for this all to be over with so all the wanna-be outdoorsman will sale their stuff on FB or CL cheap.
