I was trolling Kijiji and came across an ad for an ambulance body on chassis. The only new vehicle I've ever owned was a dentside 350 with less than 200 kilometres. It was ordered set up for an inter urban ambulance ( town to town, freeway/ hwy ) company that cancelled the order just before the body got mounted. Hometown ford knew I was looking and sent me to the truck shop in Langeley where the truck was, saw a 16' ITB truck box with hitch and a set of barndoors, had them put together and recertified.
Brand new 350 dually dentside cab n chassis with 16' box, 351w propane/gas w AOD auto for $32.000. this is the truck that kept me into dentsides, it was bought new in 1990...... Yes there is a dentside made in 1990.
Damn, I was hoping someone was going to tell me that I was full of crap about buying a dentside new in 1990, but I guess you've observed enough 73 - 90 vans and cube vans to know what I had.
Doing a main floor refresh and was doing some pricing Lowes wants $185 to $220 per linear foot for kitchen cabinets and has a vanity on sale for $299. Guess I'm building them myself and keeping the difference, maybe I'll come across some frames when I do my daily walks. Stripped the place out yesterday and am sure getting my system cleared out today, not so LOL, lol.
Them lights are nice Rich, hope the power draw isn't as high as they used to be. Used to curse those halogen deals as they were hard on indoor electrical (blown breakers) and can be blinding at night.
2nd snowfall of the season, hope this one turns green like the last one did.
Ace has a cordless LED light like that, way better than anything corded. Not quite as bright though. I took one home. It's red, but you can slap a Ford sticker on it, no problem.
SCORE!!!! snagged 54 4x4 sheets of 1/4 cold rolled for free!!!! Local indoor gun range was coming apart and my buddy was doing the work. There was 90 of them hanging from the ceiling. The white stuff is sound deadening so it needs some cleanup but very little rust. Now...what am I gonna make?
Pretty sure mine was on sale. Has a magnet and hooks on both ends, good battery life and is plenty bright. Heck of a lot nicer than dragging an extension cord around and replacing bulbs.
Custom front and rear bumpers..... That's what I'd make. After the prototypes, I'd make templates and fab up a few more to sell. Design them to be modular... oh, fab up winch plates and tow attachment points for Dentsides.
