Toyhauler modifications thread
The "diamond plate" was factory. It is of the plastic variety. I'd actually like to track some more down and add it, and some insulation under the neck (ours isn't enclosed). Just another idea for the list.
The is the lame excuse for a hose holder the factory installed. It has self tappers through the outer lip of the frame, and what looks to be one self tapper ran into a crossmember in the center. I have my 10' Rhinoflex extension in it because the 15' doesn't fit. It's a Valterra tube and the twist lock hatches suck, I have to fight with it every time. The D&W I installed is MUCH nicer. Rodney tracked a winner down on that one.
My hose holder I added is held to the frame through the outer lip of the framerails with 1/4 bolts and stover (all steel) locknuts. I had to slightly trim the coroplast to get it out of the way for the mounts.
Still have the awning poles to address along with a tube for the tote tank hose and modify/remove the floor of the gen compartment.
Looks like I need to open mouth and insert foot for sentence #1. #2 I tried to return the other cover to Amazon and they refunded the money but said not to send it back?? Guess Ill open it and see what happens. At least if I try to modify it and fail I wont lose anything................
Was hoping to get to some of these this weekend. Forecast is looking like a no-go. Oh well. The awning pole brackets were from Rodneys boy Old Coot over on FRF. Maybe the unknowing could just slap them on and call it good. They don't fit how I would like them to, so they need a little work to make me happy. Unfortunately, I already had them powdercoated. Dammit. The gen box floor should be no more than some cutting and rivets. But I'm not doin it while it's snowing!
LOL They look nice. But to me, this isn't acceptable.
Guess I could just ram the bolts tight like the rest of the sheeple. A little grinding and maybe a spacer washer on the lower bolt should fix it, or redrill upper hole further down away from bend radius. Great idea, bending and execution a bit off IMO.

Wind I assume. Around here, 20 -35 mph winds are common. We just pull in the awning, or don't put it out to begin with.....
With the poles anchored well.....and 30 mph winds......would the awning be subject to ripping ??
Never had problems the awnings over the slideouts, even in very high winds......

Because I'm nuts! I like the awning. I like it out. I liked the idea of a 21 foot awning. But the damn thing is HUGE. Have seen quite a few new units that use 2 smaller ones. I'm scared if I leave it out it'll try to remove itself. Hell, the roller bows in the middle already. Poles are so I can at least leave it out 90% of the time and have a little piece of mind one gust wont trash it. The electric awnings are pretty cheesy IMO.
I am sick of the cold shower curtain being stuck to me all the damn time. Ordered the Stromberg-Carlson extend-a-shower curtain rod. Hopefully it will clear the medicine cabinet. Also picked up some fold up cupholders for next to the couch, and a towel bar for the bathroom. All Amazon Prime so only a few days til playtime!
Picked up one kayak hoist for the garage to suspend them from the ceiling for storage. If this one cuts the mustard I'll order a second one.
Still have a few other things to address that never got done before. Some free weekends and good weather should get me rolling!
Also swapped out the incandescent over cabinet lighting with some LED strips. Worth every bit of the $11 I spent on them.

Dug into the interior stuff yesterday! Still have 6 stitches in my left thumb so trying to work around that, but I did ok.
Couch cupholders! No more putting my beer in my shoe on the floor! The one mounted to the slide is into a stud, the dinette one is just mounted to the paneling. It seems solid, but should not be too hard to pull the opposite side to back it if it gets loose. Will try it as is for now.
Clothes hooks in the bedroom on the door track, just to hang stuff off the floor. Also in the bedroom, swapped the dimmable light from the bathroom to over the bed. Installed non dimmable in bathroom. No more getting blinded at night.
Towel bar in the bathroom. It had the ring for the hand towel, but no towel bar, you can hang one on the shower rod, but that only works until someone else needs the shower. We were putting them in the garage, but the bathroom has the fantastic fan to pull the moisture out. Again, was able to get one side in a stud but nothing to mount the other side. Luckily, the electric and cable outlets in the wall for the garage TV are directly opposite it. I pulled them out and found a piece of 1x1x2 and slid it in as a backer. Mounted the bar support to it them one SS screw in the bottom to keep it from wobbling. Before the SS screw it moved the wall a bit, solid now, so thinking it should be strong enough now. Tough to see but its a double towel bar.
The only interior thing I didn't get to was the shower curtain rod, just ran out of time. Looks like our shower curtain will be too short, but will see once I get it up.
