On the way home I got a low fuel pressure light. Limped it in to the dealer my brother used to work at. The diesel tech confirmed what I already knew, bad low pressure pump. Thing is I just replaced the pump 1100 miles ago. I am really getting tired of this truck. At least the pump is an easy fix and I'm glad I ordered two pumps. Replaced it in an hour but I'm starting to want my v10 back.
Topic change, did my titan tanks last week, 65gal mid ship, 30 gal in spare tire spot. Had an issue with the rear tank loosening up on my '13 dually, double nutted everything and blue lock tite this time, filled up tanks, reset trip A, after an hour of rough roads the tank was drooping on the drivers side again. Didn't loosen up, just looks like the 30gal of fuel droops the tank, used some ratchet straps, all snug now, phoned titan twice, their tech directly once and sent pics, no reply yet. Fixed for now, will make some support straps soon. Put on a bunch of miles, 65 gal is 245 liters, 30 gal is 113L, 358L total, trip A showed 169.5L used. Filled rear first, took 109L, not too bad, main tank took 62L, total of 171L. Not too shabby considering the in line fuel meters have never been calibrated. I've found actual station pumps are calibrated closer than this, it's usually off less than 1L with a 200-220L fill.
Stock tank is on top of that 358L or does the 245L replace that one?
Does anyone know if the new low pressure fuel pump is a new design or when it was last updated? With so many failures, it seems like there is an issue somewhere.
No warranty on pump. If I would have left the truck at the dealer for a week, then yes it would be covered under warranty. I cannot be without a truck for a week, not even a day. So I just did it myself. It only took an hour to switch out pumps and filters but it took 30 minutes to get all the air out. Amazon has them for $258, the dealer price was much higher.
Well, some bad news on the tires I was considering. Saw my buddies 2011 dually yesterday running the Cooper AT3's. 25K and not looking good. The fronts are all chopped up despite rotations and down to about 5/32 on the outsides. Rears are all even but only 5-6/32 remaining. Truck has pulled a big 5ver about 300 miles and the rest is just commuting.
Guess I'm going to keep digging deeper down that 19.5 road.
Learned something today , when I hooked to 5ver I had forgotten about a poor connection on my left trailer turn signal , the '16 notified me of this on dash, the '14 never did! Awesome
