Yep, it was luckily just a glance that hit right at the edge of the bed and slid into the "jamb" if you will for the tailgate. I've since bought a dump trailer and there will NEVER be any loose material in the bed of the truck again.
Years ago when I went to the mall I would park my Corvette as far as possible from the mall. There was an area over on the Sears side that was a good ¼ mi from the Sears entrance and no one parked out there.
I came out on day and two cars had parked next to me on either side. My guess is they knew each other as the cars could not have been any closer, may be an inch off my car. Impossible to open the door even if you could have got to it. But it was a convertible and the back of the top clicked in, but barely held (I just needed to adjust it). So I crawl up on the back, grab my top and pop it up and crawl in. I slowly back straight out. I get out and I rip the side view mirrors off each of the cars and take my #12 boot and put it into the doors till create a serious dent in each of the drivers doors.

20-30 minutes with an infra-red heater, remove the mud flap and inner liner and I was able to push the dent out and the inner clips back in.
The plastic and the paint have proven resilient again (left side was hit last year with a cell phone driver)
Won't know until I wash it if there is any residual damage.
And of course thanks to our brine and salt program most of the U-nuts holding the mud flap on fell apart.
