Got the engine pretty much out Friday night. It is just hanging in the engine bay from the chain hoist. I still need to pull take the clutch and flywheel off so it will come out of the engine bay. The trans and t-case in on the floor.....again!......for the third time since this build started! Haven't done anything else since Friday night though. I might work on it tonight maybe. It will probably be next weekend at the soonest before it goes back together again.....hopefully for the last time!
3 times for the trans ought to be enough, huh? Lol! Glad to hear you're gaining though.
Let's hope! LOL!!

I don't work when I have company JP. We were on the road most of the time anyway. The rest of the time we just hung out.

I haven't touched it since Friday night! LOL! My parts should be here tomorrow. I'll get it on the stand and start tearing it down tomorrow evening. I hope to have it all back together for the last time next weekend and actually get to drive it for a while......I hope
Take a picture of this seal that's leaking Bill. I never had one of these apart so I'm curious of what is causing this leak. I just hope I don't take mine apart on some mountain pass, I rather do it with wrenches
Your having hell with this truck Bill... I thought I was having a rough time with my neighbors truck, but your definitely getting the worse end of it.
Glenn, the front cover has an o-ring style seal just like the water pump has. It also has sections that are grey RTV too. Lol. The front cover is kind of odd with the way it seals.

I guess it could be worse Travis LOL! I don't mind doing the work, I'm just to the point now where I just wanna drive my truck!

I know the feeling. I melted the pistons in my F-150 in December of 2012.. It's still sitting out in the pasture. I haven't even pulled the engine out of it!!! LOL. It's probably destroyed now anyways.

3rd time for the tranny to be out - ouch! you are certainly an expert now, though - if not before.
I was wondering about that though - is it possible to remove an engine with the tranny still in place. well, anything's possible, but is it advisable. I'd think you'd really need to support the front end of the tranny...

It is probably possible, but you need one hell of an engine hoist to do it. We've always just dropped the trans for engine removal. The engine is already big and heavy enough, no reason to make it even harder to pull and install.. I've folded up and scrapped one engine hoist already with a 7.3 hanging on the end of it. LOL. The legs decided they weren't taking the abuse any longer and the engine slammed to the ground. Not a good feeling at all to watch that happen. So I'm not going to try anything that might cause that to happen again.
Ouch! That hurts just thinking of it! I'm a ways away, but I'm trying to think of how to get my rebuilt engine swapped into my truck. All I can think of now is borrowing or buying another stand. Had a guy offer me a cherry picker, but think I'll pass on that now!!
