I'm sure you though of this, but might it save some time to just yank the radiator and pull off the grill. When disassembling my red truck, there was pretty easy access to the fan/WP with those two out of the way.

Just a thought.
Good luck!
In order to pull the front cover off, the oil pan has to be removed. The only way to do that is to pick the engine up and get it away from the crossmember.
Hate to hear that Bill. I'm sure you'll get it done tho and while the pan is out, it'll be a good time to replace the dipstick o-ring correctly or correct that whole problem from ever happening.
Sorry to here your going to have to pull the motor Bill that sucks. What would cause the front cover to start leaking or do you think it was leaking before.
Well, that sucks big time bud. I hear ya on the way too much to do, that's sure not what you needed right now with your list!
I know you know this, but check out your oil pan real good means the motors coming out.
I will bud, Thanks!

How do you correct it from ever happening? You're talking about that $300 aluminum piece are you?

I appreciate that Nate! I'll be fine though. The only bad part about pulling these engines removing the core support. I may start on it tomorrow evening. I got one of the engine stands freed up today so I have one to put it on. Shouldn't be too bad.
Well, your optimistic anyway. I'm sure your positive you have to or you wouldn't. Good Luck!!
LOL!! I tried every way in the world to convince myself that it wasn't the front cover leaking.....but it is. I never dreamed it would be that, but after cleaning with brake cleaner and getting it to start leaking, with an inspection mirror and a flashlight, standing on my head looking under the HPOP, I could see where it was coming from. It is leaking directly above the oil passage hole from the front cover to the block.

That or I believe swamps uses a billet steel nut and tig welds it to the oil pan on all the engines they build. I think that would be a more permanent fix. Either see if someone can machine that nut out of steel or call swamps and see if you can buy one.
