Yeah I don't even want to go into all the details on our little adventure. It was realllllly stupid and could've killed my brother. I'd like to go back in time and slug both of us in the face!
On edit, spoilers are for lame GT cars and ricers. Lol
I guess you had an LX??? What the heck are you supposed to hold on to when you wanna roller blade behind it?

LMAO!!! Coupe LX. Cleanest looking 5.0 IMHO. Some day I'll have another. Greatest road trip car I've ever owned. Although I don't know how far I'd like to take it these days with the frame ties and BBK suspension parts. That sucker was a tad rough.
Well, I couldn't stand it anymore. I took the truck out for a short drive tonight. It runs pretty good from what I could tell. The roads are still mostly snow covered. The most boost I hit was 20 psi. That was the second time I turned it sideways in the road! LOL! I only went about 4 or 5 miles and turned it sideways twice and almost hit two deer! I figured I better get it home. LOL!! I have one small oil leak on the turbo drain fitting. I'll look into that tomorrow evening. All in all I was pleased with how it ran and I think I'm gonna like the trans a lot!
That's great news, especially missing the deer and ditch, LOL Sounds like your just going to have to wait for dry roads to open that baby up!!
Edit: about the paint, read the last page or so on the 40psi thread.
I read that on your thread about the paint. I'm not gonna be doing ant 40 psi boost pulls for a while. Gotta break my clutch in and I don't have studs and springs. If I start having trouble with them blowing off, I'll do something with them then.
fix = v-bands all around!!! and bolt together tabs
Not exactly IMO. V bands are great, but don't forget that our intercoolers are fairly solid mounted to the core support and the engine moves quite a bit under power. The pipes being solid with v-bands cannot take that amount of flex. I've witnessed that first hand. On our setups, a v band on top is fine, just leave the boots for the intercooler so they can provide some flex.
A v-banded pipe just like mine with a boot on the intercooler put enough pressure on the turbo under power when the engine flexed that it pushed the turbo up enough for oil to blow past the upper pedestal o-rings onto the uppipes and caused a small fire. That setup was using an adapter to mount a Gt42 on a stock pedestal, so it had all the stock o-rings. Mine hasn't done that, but our turbo setups don't have the upper o-rings, just the ones under the pedestal. Just pointing out that if you use a v-band, just pay attention to whether or not the pipe needs to be able to flex. On mine, the lower boot seems to be providing enough flex on the hot side pipe.
I've got my IC pipe ends painted too. Never knew I wasn't supposed to paint them. Like I said in Glenn's thread, once I put the hump boot on the drivers side splice I haven't had a problem.

I agree with you travis.but there in the middle of that pipe i would be happy to be rid of that boot.each end,yea it has to be able to flex.
Hell in the middle of that pipe... best fix is just weld it together there. You only need a boot on the compressor outlet and IC. Nothing more. Lol
Without redesigning the pipe I don't know if a guy could weld it. The ends don't meet up very well at all, and there is not much room to move it. Without my boot on, the tops of the pipes are hitting, and the bottom has a pretty good gap. Can't really rotate either piece to work well either.
Someone should have spent a little more time putting that side together. No reason it couldn't have been made different in one piece. If I have any more problems with that joint I will re-do the pipe.
