Sorry to those I didn't send the zip too over the last couple of months, I have been inactive on here for a while because of college and I spent a month in Australia this summer. Send me a personal Message with you email address (if you did and didn't recieve it please do it again.) and I will try and get it to you. However I would appreciate it if some other people would jump in and help share the files.

E4OD front pump

My flexplate broke and took out the tq conv and front pump seal. I replaced and tested good till OD suppose to kick in. Light blinks and no OD. Good til OD every time after reset. I think my front pump is the problem so I am removing the tranny again and replacing the pump. I would like to study the zip file mentioned. Can I get the E4OD zip file without putting my email address on the forum? Maybe sending a private message?

Why is the OD light flashing? What code is stored? How could the pump work in all gears except overdrive?

I recommend reading the codes before pulling the trans.

I got no codes. The reason I think it is the pump is I opened the line going to the cooler and ran it timing the output into a bucket and it was very low less than a quart in 1 min 30 seconds. As I understand it the overdrive is not a gear it just locks the tq conv.. It does not have the umpth to do that. This is just my screwed up thinking on my study of the E4OD.

Your pump flow is VERY low. It should be one quart in 15 seconds.

You understanding of overdrive is wrong. It is another gear ratio in the transmission. The torque converter can be locked or unlocked in overdrive.

Before doing that I'd put a pressure gauge in the test port and see what it is doing.

I think I saw the Pressures in my manual. Thank you for the tips.

Hi Mark,
I forgot to bring up the PSI readings but the best was 6 PSI low and the worst was 14 PSI low. We replaced the pump and all is well now. I have test driven now numerous times and have over 100 miles so far Thanks for the assistance. Do you know how to get a code reader to work on the 1995 models? It has only an OBD2 connector and never shows a code. I think I should have had one with the tranny issue and several other times but never shows a code.

It takes a high end scan tool with Ford specific software to read transmission codes.
