Hi All, What an amazing thread, this conversation has been going on for 10 years!

I'm addressing some shudder problems on my 91 F250 4x4, first pass is a fluid change.

Well, for what it's worth, I changed my fluid and the tranny's performing well again!

 

I have 298,000 miles on my F-250. Got a leak and kept fluid in it, but when I went to the dealership to get them to fix the leak, they told me I needed to replace the transmission and everything else on my truck, and they broke the end of my shift lever off. (said it was like that when it came in) Quote was $7000. (That wouldn't have fixed the leak either) Now my tranny slips because they didn't check before driving it all over their lot. I didn't want to do the work because I have a torn shoulder, but I fixed the leak that they didn't with a piece of hose over the trans line that leaked because it was rubbing on the I-beam, they were the ones that pulled them off the hanger when I took it in to get the motor mounts repaired from the crash damage, but then told me that the broken mounts weren't from me being slammed from the rear by a Hummer hard enough to bend the frame. Now my shoulder is messed up again. I wont mention any names but if you live in Inverness, FL. go to another dealership somewhere else if you don't want to be ripped off. I spent 22 years working on wrecked cars, they were idiots.

Anyway, I think I will need to rebuild my tranny now and I am not going to give them 7k. I could definitely use all the information before I dig in so can you please send me the .zip file.

just got the zip file, good info...but i didnt catch that its only for the pre-updated e40d's. any similar info on the 95 and newer e40d's?
