I am going to continue reading to see if one if you ha e already answered my question. So here's is what happed. It started out as a hard shift and would then get hot and not want to shift into third. The other day I was driving and rolled the throttle on the old 460 to the floor it down shifted to second and a second or two later it up shifted then violently down shifted again. Then up shifts to no gear. I can select second but and soon as I go to drive there is rpms but no friction. I am planning a master rebuild kit from autozone. What I need to know is do I need any specialty tools, should the master rebuild kit fix the problem, and are there any suggestions. So everybody knows do have a fair amount of mechanical knowledge. I've done alot of things but this will be my first transmission rebuild. Please keep in mind I'm on a tight budget to say the least.
