[quote=Talyn;11777028}Like I said, in our eyes it is correct, but to go "steal" your stuff back, you are still stealing, and he can press charges and file reports, even if its your stuff![/quote]

Not in Ohio! We have the Castle Doctrine here.
That's why I have a 12ga in the bedroom, a .357 in the kitchen, a .45 in the hall closet, an AR15 in the basement, a 7.62x54R over the mantle, etc, etc, (I think you get the idea)... All to ensure that if someone breaks into my house they will do it exactly ONCE. I take very seriously the responsibility for my family's protection.

All that aside, I think Ryan may have done the wrong thing by showing that he had a title for the truck, and I certainly think that time is of the essence if he is ever going to see his truck again, but who knows as cocky as these jokers seem to be they may still have the truck. After all, you don't have to be smart to be a crook.

AMEN! you forgot the Taurus Judge in your hip holster!
Thats what I conceal carry in Toledo... because the Judge can use those amazing 'self-defense' rounds.
lol

But william is right you have to know the laws
For example
(I cant figure out how to just add a link to go to the video... it keeps putting up the actual video in here. Which Ithink the moderators wouldnt like since it has some foul language from the individual claiming this is 'my hood' and a bunch of hooplah)
If you google 'Crazy guy smashes up pt cruiser' you will find the video...

that is the video they showed at my CC course.
This happened in Utah and according to their gun law you cant shoot him for committing 'criminal damage to property'

But at one point in the video he smashes in the passenger side second door window and you will notice the man jumps back.
It is because he smashed that window and there was a baby inside that seat.

At that point in Utah the father or mother or one of the nearby cars could have gotten out their .45 and blown his A$$ away!

I love Utah's gun law.
Alcohol laws there are stupid though.

Oh and to help protect yourself if you Conceal carry is buy the types of ammunition where the manufacturer states "for targets only" or something along those lines... turkey shot.. elephant etc.

Because on the manufacturer's label it clearly states 'not for human beings only for use on turkeys' or something along those lines

In Missouri I found 'Zombie Ammunition' which was just your basic ACP .45
but the manufacturer is giving you a free 'out' because it stated on the box.
"Will not properly work on living humans" or something along those lines

I find it hilarious all the stupid laws different states come up with.

Yeah, I am pretty well aware of the legal ramifications of taking action. My dad is a NRA certified CCW instructor and teaches a lot of courses, and a good friend of mine (a fellow CCW Holder who took his classes from my dad years back) is my lawyer. He was in my same CCW class as a matter of fact. As was the guy who is a long time personal friend of mine who happens to be the county prosecutor now, lol.

You're right though. CCW or not, you don't have the right to just go around delivering your own brand of vigilante justice. This isn't the movies and your actions carry some really serious legal ramifications. You have got to grapple with the facts if and when you decide to get a CCW license. You have to decide if you would be willing to take away someone's life for the defense of your family. Whether you would be willing to potentially go to jail for it. It is not something to be taken lightly at all. It is a big responsibility that carries some pretty significant legal obligations and risks. I for one have weighed the options and decided that the risks are worth it to me. As I have said I take the safety of my family very seriously and that plays into my decision making process in a lot of ways surrounding this subject. For me though, as it has been said, I would rather be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

I had a cc lisence for a while, but after reading laws, it didn't let me carry anywhere that mattered. Besides, it's legal to have a gun in your truck because it's an extension of your home. When I was 18 I got stopped for speeding and had a 1911 45acp on the seat and the cops couldn't do anything because the truck was in my dads name

I would just go get my truck back. And if the cops even showed up, I'll have the papers for it and that's all they will want. I guess it's the regional differance
