Yeah, i read that... before I dived into it. Try as I might I was unable to install the generator and install the hook end into the hole without lifting the cage out. No idea why, there just isn't clearance. Both washers are installed. I didn't break it down much farther than that, just tightened all the fittings up a smidge.
You're right, the cage needs to come off a 200A. The 220 genny's can be slid into the air tube for removal/replacement.

I don't think the generator was installed correctly because I was able to remove it without removing the cage, although it probably doesn't matter. Maybe the cleaning needle wasn't doing its job. I had to do open lantern surgery and straighten it out carefully. Works OK now.
You know about burning them out, then pick out the ash?
just to add on a tidbit of info to seans great pictures! just be careful when heating them up!the insert is brass and it don't take much to melt them... i learned that the hard way
1975 Coleman Milspec i picked up over the weekend...
tinkered with it tonight a little bit.... stepped up to the plate and got a flame ball (strike one)...hmm ok will clean the air tubes.... after a bunch of brake cleaner and 140psi of air, i forgot about the plug blocking the one air tube (factory) and shot the plug across the garage and now is MIA (strike two) so i stuffed a 3/8" bolt in the tube.... put the lantern back togeather new mantle and lit it up! (SWING! its going deeep left field!!!)...but i did not got a money shot of it running tonight (pop fly.... strike three)
Nice Justin, I need to get the cob webs outta mine. Looks like It has the heavy glass quadrants and captured funnel. Don't see the tools that go by the genny.

the wrench for the genny that also has a little pricker on it is inside the parts well... far as im aware thats its home... but im a newb to the milspecs.
Good seeing you sean and others! at the SoCal Breakfast G2G!
sean, you were asking me about the snap hooks i was using for my lanterns. so i snapped a couple pictures. the part numbers on the hardware are for lowes, but the snap hook is 1/4" size which is rated for 80lbs! no particular reason i got that size, just cause its the smallest i could find.
A pair of those little snap hooks are what I use to attach the break-away cable to my frame when towing. Carabiners are what I envisioned when you were talking about these.
any of those should work! when i was building my first shelf lowes didn't have a nice selection of tea cup hooks. soo i went Tim Allen and went overboard !
