Oh... while I'm still thinking about this. You can also do a twin stick mod to an NP205 (when you get it). It is a freebee mod (except for the Dana 300 transfer case twin stick shifters).
Wait, what do you mean a dual shifter mod for the 205? I read that when you do the doubled that you have one shifter for the 203 AMD one for the 205, what would ha ing a double shifter for the 205 do?

The twin stick mod for the NP205 gives you the following... FWD low, FWD N, FWD hi, RWD low, RWD N, RWD hi, 4x4 low, & 4x4 hi.
With the stock NP205 you have the following... 4x4 low, 4x4 hi, N, & RWD hi.
Oh I see. Wow, I thought the 205 had 2wd lo as well... That's unfortunate. Well for the time being I think just getting a case and putting that in would be enough, then I can look into other mods available since this truck won't see 4wd anytime soon. Not until I get the gear ratio's matched. Plus I might need to take my front driveline to a driveline shop and have them check it all out. It seems like the end that slides into the main body is a little loose or something.
Then I will need to get all new u-joints and that junk.
There used to be a kit available through Napa and others to convert the full time case to part time. What's up with no body mentioning that? Is it no longer available?
Seems to me that would be the easiest route to go for you Dylan.
Everything would just bolt back in and give ya a chance to put brg's and seals in while ya had it apart. As I remember once the case is out it only takes a few minutes to do the conversion. I am off to town so I am not able to Google it right now but as you know Google is your friend.
Also I thought the full time case had all the selections the part time case has. At least in your year as they are the ones I worked on. 2 & 4 both high and low. How could it not have if it is full time? Numberdummy could confirm that.
Rich I have heard of the con version you are talking about and read about it. It requires removing the differential piece from the back of the 203 and replacing it with whatever comes in the conversion kit. The 203 is chain driven also whereas the 205 is gear driven so there is less chance of breaking and chain slipping. the 205 would be a straight "drop in" as long as the mounts line up, no need for any adapters.
As for the selection, the 203 has 5 selections to the 205's 4. I have 4hi then 4hi lock, then neutral, then 2lo and 4lo lock. or something like that. I have more than the 205.
After I cleaned up a lot of the carpeting to expose the screw holes. I need a new boot now.
Looks like I shaved a squirrel eh?
The boot in question.
I tried to think of a way to wrap it in a t-shirt or tape it up or something but over all, it's shot. I went to the junkyard and found nothing of use BESIDES 2 small fuses which I stole I placed one in the instrument panel slot so I *should* have a few dash lights like I did before I removed the tin foil garbage. I don't know if it works yet, It came out of a 71 pickup at the junkyard so there is no telling if it worked. I have to wait till it gets dark out. I grabbed a second one that was bigger just in case, I could probably put it in the fuse spot for the cargo lamp thing since that is also tin foiled...
Hey Dill? The truck I was gonna get the 5 speed and lift out of for my Bronk looks like a no go. I finally took the time to go check it out today. It's been rolled over on its top than some SOB torched it. Trans would need all new seals and anything rubber or plastic. The 208 transfer looks good and usable yet as it didn't get any heat to it. But I would only need it if I used the trans. And after the inside of the cab burned it looks to have got pretty hot. If I had a place to overhaul it than maybe. Still gonna take a wire brush out and get some numbers off the trans. All I know so far is that it is a cast iron case 5 speed with aluminum bell and transfer. Anyone know from that what trans it may be? It's in a very early 80's F150 with a 351W and carb. I don't know but don't think it is original to the truck. It also has manual clutch linkage. Being cast iron is it worth grabbing? Someone said it's the cat's meow of the 5 speeds but I don't know.
Lol, usually at the yards I went to, If it fit in your pocket it was free.
I wouldn't stick a larger fuse in a spot. You need to check what size fuse you need and if the proper one blows then you have to figure out where the short is. Usually a broken wire or bad switch. Sticking a larger fuse in can cause wires to melt, which can lead to a fire.

Using the tinfoil off yer tinfoil hat is even worse Dylan. Most folks pack spare fuses, Not a roll of tinfoil

Manual linkage isnt really a help to identify, that's installation preference. The T5 is all aluminum so thats ruled out. The ZF5 trans doesn't have a removable bellhousing IIRC....
I didn't put the tin foil in, it was wrapped around the old blown fuse. The rise for the inst panel is a 3amp so that one is good. As for the cargo light, that is a 15amp and the one I grabbed is 20 so I will have to find another. I carry a small tin with extra fuses but they didn't have one small enough for the instrument panel. The one I got is probably no good though, I fell asleep yesterday before trying it so I haven't seen yet. Since it is still dark out this morning I can go out and try it to see.
Rich, sorry to hear the truck was torched. Some people are pretty inconsiderate. Hopefully another comes a long that you can get parts out of. I don't know anything about the ZF and how it looks. I'm on my phone so looking it up takes a while.
EDIT: I went and looked at it, the lights would work if they were all in working condition. It used to be that the gear selector light and the climate control one. Now its just the climate control working... Oh well, I know the fuse is good
Well today I am making plans to go buy the parts needed to do my rear brakes. I wish drums were cheaper but oh well. I'm not sure when I will end up doing the work but if I get the parts now then it will push me a little to get it done. When I get the shoes and everything done, I will run the drums up to the parts store and have them turned.
With my tax return coming in, I am getting more than I thought so buying headers and mufflers are seeming more possible. I will post links for what I plan to get, if anyone who knows more than me (everyone ) thinks I will have any issues, I would appreciate knowing before buying them.
EDIT: just got back from buying the parts. it was less than expected, only $36 for shoes and a full spring kit. Yeah, it might not be needed but for an extra $6 for the springs, I can have fresh parts.
Apparently the mufflers are supposed to be Summit's version of the knockoff flowmaster 40's. A fellow FTE member that I talk to once in a while posted a video link for me that had a vehicle with this muffler on it and it seemed to sound pretty good.
But, my main concern is the Headers, I remember seeing somewhere that with these broncos, getting headers on is a pain due to the lack of space between the motor and the frame. Maybe you guys would know better than me if these will work before I spend all the money purchasing it and getting it shipped here. I guess worst case scenario if they don't work, I can hock them off on craigslist to someone else...
