Thanks for that info. Rich. Not retiring any time soon, but good to know for when I do ( Like I can afford it). Finally got some of the pictures this morning. Figured I'd go ahead & finish that tech post with what I had. Know y'all are VERY anxious to see how that went. for details, go here:
Just thought I would put it out there to any and all who might qualify for it???
Nice tech post, looks good.
Thanks Rich. Was a little difficult due to 25° temperatures the night before. Pictures of the one on top of the old lace up FINALLY loaded. It was another 'slip on' my niece had installed when she was here. They don't want to bend very good at those temps. Here's what was on top of the old lace up one.:
So you was rocking the "tweety", its all good. Yea I have a old slip on the 77 and 78 that looks like the even older slip and lace on style.
Been hanging in there so I am running it, you know us older 73-79 guys can swap out the old skinny wheel for a 80's ish Bronco/F150 leather wrapped one.
I did it on my 79 mudder, if I can ever find 2 more good steering wheels in the JY (yea right) I will swap the other 2 trucks.
Dinner, left over night according to the wife. Yes, that is my vol 2 factory service manual being used as a placemat. I am rebuilding a 2150 at my desk also. The blues game is on at same time. Sipping Red Stag bourbon too. Life is good!
I used to run a crane up there. We put a LOT of neon in all the terminals when they redid the airport. I used to park my crane truck along the unloading zone BEHIND a concrete barrier. The airport kept saying I was blocking traffic (not sure how, when I was behind a construction barrier) and if I didn't move my truck, they would have it towed. I went outside, shot all four outriggers down and sent the boom up 90 feet in the air and locked out the hydraulics. Then I went back in and said, "Tow that!" They got a LOT nicer after that.
Alan love the truck! Rich do you still have the 16.5s that are like the wheels on the truck Alan posted?
Ok so I now have a 14 bolt with 4.10s that matches my dana 44, and a set of Dana 44 Chevy outers! Going to use 78 Chevy front calipers and rotors all around my bronco!
I could see you Alan doing just that. With you boom 90 ft up you were blocking traffic, air traffic lol. Yea those TSA folks are a little to "all that" for me.
You mean these? And I have a set of solid alum sort of like "center lines" 8 on 6 1/2 and some old steel large spoke "Jackman's"
HI rims with magnesium run flat, need re centered.
2 Sets of alum modular, 1 or 2 white spoke, some chrome spoke, hell I got a barn full.
4 33x12.50x16.5 mudders on steel white spokes
4 35 boggers on alum mods
4 15 x38 tsl'S on steel white spokes
4 17x40 new set of odd style "ground hawgs" in a mud pit twice, now no rims mounted. No pavement time on them.
4 18x 44 tsl on alum mod spoken for (Penny's rig)
6 36x12.50x16.5 Good Year MT II (new)
5 37x12.50x16.5 Good Years MT II
4 35x12.50x16.5 BGF MT no rims
What are you thinking? They are outa the elements and are not eating nuthing but space. On a DD at's will last longer and you can swap at the ranch with trail tires.......
