I sorry guys. I'm brand new and have no idea how to post or anything. So forgive me and bare with me please. I have a 79 f 150 "supposedly". I've only had it a few months and think I spun a bearing. I was told it had a 460 in it. I've already done a bit of research and know that it's a D9 block, is one of the weird ones that doesnt have #s on head above exhaust port. I have seen that a 79 f 150 4x4 didnt come with a 460. To frustrate me further, I was checking my vin, and it came back as a f 100 2 wheel drive, with a 302. I just want to make sure what I have, and what I need to get. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again and sorry for jumping in where I may not belong
Don't sweat the vin information. If you looked at the vin on my truck it would come back as an F100 2wd with a 300 six cylinder. ...but last year I stuck the body on an F150 4x4 frame. Future plans for the spring are to put a 390 in it. (4x4's never came with a 390, either)
These trucks are over 30 years old. Their whole they were used as, ...well, ...trucks. When parts wore out, they replaced them with what was handy. If a guy had a 2wd and wanted a 4wd, he found a frame or put a front axle under it. There's even cases of Dodge front axles and divorced mounted transfer cases. It'll be best to identify exactly what each piece of your truck is, because after all this time, you just can't go by a build sheet or vin.
That's outside temps and this thing has one kick butt heater, it will smoke you out. But during start up and shut downs I am outside in the wind, freezing my turkey giblets off.
You sure your not a locomotive engineer? Sounds just like how my days are currently.
And that wind is motivated by a 62 foot 5 bladed rotor sys that is 15 feet above the ground and the center being driven by 2 turbine shaft jet engines.
Good morning youins. Nissan is ready for paint. Mustang's driver side quarter is screwed in place and will be burned in place Saturday. My buddy drove the 70 convertible out last night and man does it sound good, I was also kind of surprised at how my paint job on it looks after I've forgotten the flaws that drove me bonkers. That car has gotten me three restorations lined up thus far.
Hey Misery folks (& former neighbors), IF someone could do me a favor & throw some greenie points at Alan. Says I can't yet. Been a big help to me & Old Rusty. Thanks Widow Maker!!! Don't care what anyone else says, you're a good man. They're all jealous anyway. Think I may need a heater fan soon for Old Rusty, sounds like it's about ready to quit. If I had the fundage, I'd have them go ahead & throw one while they're doing the heater core anyway. Guess I'll have to tackle that one myself (IF & whenever it does quit).
Rich, stay safe 'over there'. Don't need none of our FTE folks getting shot up.
The garage overhaul is near completion. There are few work related items that need to go away, and a tandem bicycle (bike built for two) that is taking up too much real estate. It is for sale for a friend. I just want it out of my garage.
I want to get this truck project going.
I got some running around to do today. Then after lunch, I'm supposed to be loading up these two trucks I finished and unloading two more. Next week is cab corners in a Chevy pick up, engine in another Chevy truck, Engine in an Olds Bravada, (Chevy S-10 Blazer) and a dent Ford to seal up some oil leaks and fix an exhaust manifold.
I want to raise as much money as I can by Friday. There's a shop that closed and they're having an auction on Friday morning. I WANT that tire machine and wheel balancer. I'm SO sick of mounting tires by hand.
