Yep, Alan and RC are dead on. Ideally you'd want a compressor that delivers 15 or more CFM at 40 PSI. If you're not running a DA or other air hog constantly, the 220V 60 gallon Harbor Fright compressor should do the trick. Use at least 3/8 air hose at the paint gun so you have a high enough volume of air to atomize the material being sprayed.
my 2 cents is buy the biggest air compressor you can afford. If you think your gonna use a air tool and maybe a sander then your gonna find how nice air tools are and then your gonna get more and bigger tools and your gonna have to get another compressor to run your new tools.
I have a body shop so my requirements are not the same as yours, but have two big compressors and can still run out of air if a couple of people are using air boards at the same time on one compressor
I thought it was the egg nog after reading the drink thread.

When I was working at the Cat dealership back home, there was two 200 gallon compressors out back (220v 3-phase, I think). First guy to show up in the morning would fire 'em up...the last guy to leave would shut 'em down and open the water drains. I know there were times during the day that both were singing a song to keep up...but that was a large shop. A 60 gallon seems to be what everyone I know back home is running. Don't remember any of them running out of air.
I want to thank you guys for all the insight on compressors. I have looked at H.F. and lowes. I also get a 10% discount at Home depot for being retired military so I have to keep that in mind to save a few bucks.
Zhilton-As far as the double post I wish I could blame it on the nog but that was just my lack of computer skills showing up. Although I have learned in the past not to go on ebay while drinking adult beverages. Not sure what was worse, the hang over or having to explain to the wife why I spent so much money.....yikes!
The '97 Ford finally went away today. I've fixed everything I can fix. Now I think it's just a matter of driving the funk out of the fuel system. It idles better (but not perfect) and runs smooth. Good enough.
I have two more engine jobs to do, another kid is bringing me a dent side to fix some oil leaks and an exhaust leak, some miscellaneous repairs on a newer BMW, some wiring in a third gen Camaro and a guy just called about rebuilding two 600 Holleys.
I sorry guys. I'm brand new and have no idea how to post or anything. So forgive me and bare with me please. I have a 79 f 150 "supposedly". I've only had it a few months and think I spun a bearing. I was told it had a 460 in it. I've already done a bit of research and know that it's a D9 block, is one of the weird ones that doesnt have #s on head above exhaust port. I have seen that a 79 f 150 4x4 didnt come with a 460. To frustrate me further, I was checking my vin, and it came back as a f 100 2 wheel drive, with a 302. I just want to make sure what I have, and what I need to get. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again and sorry for jumping in where I may not belong
That's outside temps and this thing has one kick butt heater, it will smoke you out. But during start up and shut downs I am outside in the wind, freezing my turkey giblets off.
jssparkeyjr, welcome to FTE, you are a little off base but in the ball park, so its all good.
You are in a regional "Missouri" chat forum and that is ok unless you looking for the Ohio one then you are a little west. lol
I think you could get a 460 in a 2wd truck, look for a block ID # behind the starter and as far as the vin did you get it off the door tag or the door striker sticker?
Factory 460 in a 4x4 was not till 82 ish?? and then F250 was the norm, I believe. Cruise the eng forums for alot of eng info, and sign up to be a Ohio member so you can get to know you in state Ford owning neighbors.
There is no place you do not belong in and or on here, so one again no worries and welcome.
