My '79 F250 is never going to get restored, mainly because its a work truck. But I am going to be doing things here and there to spruce it up a bit, and make it look a little less rugged. Instead of having thread all around the forum, I decided to consolidate things here and keep my work all together. Feel free to ask me or other users questions.
Starting out, I picked up some crash absorbers from the local pick a part for $6.99 each, and cleaned out the rust on the insides.
20 grit glass at 90 psi, 10-13 cfm (don't remember for sure)
3 coats of rust stop primer
Then one coat of satin black paint
Got them on my truck, haven't gotten a picture yet. I did use them to push my other dent (missing engine) back up a hill today
Those bumpers look great and you sure have a nice blaster ( i use works and it is not near good enough sometimes). The best part of your thread is that you have already put some of your progress to use. Ive seen alot be done for show, so just good to see another "work" truck. Take care ill be dropping by to see more progress.
Finally got a recent picture with the cleaned up guards
Some older stuff...
Cleaned up the hood latch mechanism. Top is painted machine grey, while the bottom half (behind the grill) is painted satin black. All parts received 2 coats of rust stop primer and 1-2 coats of paint
Also did the battery tray. Cleaned up under the tray with an angle grinder and wire brush. Removed corrosion and rust, primed and painted
Thanks. It may not look too bad, but she has her rough spots. Bondo on passenger side door, and the bed is beat to crap on the inside (its a camper special, and the first owner had a camper).
