zf-42 tranny 5 speed 400 ford. 2 different output shafts. the big block which bolts up to the 400 is nice. but its not a bolt up situation!! the pilot bearing needs to be lengthen. instead of typical 1/2" thick you need to double the length 1" so it extends out of the crankshft for support to tranny shaft. next issue is throwout bearing is riding more forward and might have to shim the flywheel out. 460 ford crankshaft is thicker and about 5/8"or less and it takes up the space and keep the throw out bearing in the proper position on tranny. I haven't got all this perfected yet but its happening. extend pilot bushing, throwout bearing position and setting up your clutch are the 3 main issues. use your brain a little but it can be done. going in a 1970 ford crewcab, everything is being altered so its no big deal to me. hope this helps and will have some photos soon. 307 763 2716 robert. keeping old iron alive one ford at a time. Hoping to get around 16mpg with this setup maybe more.
