I can't wait to get started on the interior... I have a image of what I want it to look like in my mind (probably won't be half as cool in the end). Summer needs to hurry up and get here
I'm looking forward to March 10 when we get an extra hour of daylight... that's my go-date to restart my bump project though it'll get interrupted by a big wiring job and EFI swap on the Dentside.
How bad are the time changes during the winter down there in NorCal? Up here by December sunrise is at 8-8:30, and sunset is at 4-4:30. Now it isn't as bad, but still gets dark by 6, which is a bit of a bugger because I'm off work at 6:30
Pretty much the same even though WA is at a higher latitude. I must have an internal clock cuz in the dead of winter I was finding myself climbing into bed at 8:30 PM. In mid summer, I can typically wrench and fab until 9 PM... productivity!
I get off work at 5 and have every other Friday off. The daylight is relatively decent now that I can put some time into small projects... unfortunately non-automotive lately. Fridays have been my reward since weekends are being eaten up by a house remodel - it's a rental that has had very little work done to it since the early 90s.

HIO, thats cuz we (u) are old! Nothing to do with the lack of sun on the right coast. I am 35 miles north of JGAVAC and I do not experience the things you guys speak of. Day light is great, warm temps, plenty of garage space, every tool I have ever needed, lots of help but my issue is too much rain! In case you didn't catch that lil' bit of sarcasm, here is a drink to the Friday evening! Jameson, that's the rootbeer icon incase you didn't know!
My plans today were thwarted. Weather was halfway decent, and I had lots of motivation, so I was going to start gearing up to start working again. But my compressor had other plans for me.
I was going to start out by finishing a sandblasting order, then move on to my truck. My compressor wouldn't crank though, and it took all damn day to figure out what was wrong and get it running

Well, my work hours are 7 AM to 5 PM and get every other Friday off. It was dark when I arrived at work and it was dark when I left work. Nowadays the afternoons ain't so bad but I still turn on my headlights out of habit!
I sure as heck wish I had a bigger garage - I don't fab in there cuz that's where the Lemans (convertible) and Mustang are parked and I dare not get them pull them out and park them outside overnight cuz the dew collects airborne dirt requiring me to wash them.
What I really need is a 10-car garage with an attached house.

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes it just ain't in the cards. 'get her fixed?

Hell, just give me a heated 10 car garage with an upstairs for a kitchen, bed, and bathroom, and I'd be happy
I did get it fixed. Traced the issue back to the battery, which turns out is bad. Found that out after new battery cables, new starter and starter solenoid, points and condenser, and a lot of frustration
Had a unusual break in the weather yesterday, and I was off from school, so I decided to break out the 'ol 79 and show her some love.
Took about 30 minutes of jockeying back and forth to get it onto the driveway. Even though it was only parked not 5 feet off to the side, there was enough mud to make it a pain to get out
Even got mud on the hood
Anyway, back to what I was working on. I pulled the rear gas tank, drained the remaining fuel, and washed it out. Once the tank dries, it has a date with my sandblaster, and then it'll get a nice coating or two of paint.
And here is a family picture, albeit a little oversaturated (L-R: 79 F250, 1978 Grimmer Schmidt 302 monoblock compressor, 87' F250 DD)
What I'll work on next is getting the rear of the frame ready for paint. I have from the last crossmember back free of stuff, and I'll work my way forward to the cab. Instead of sandblasting, I'm just going to por-15 and topcoat it. I figure por-15 will be cheaper overall, and the frame isn't even that rusty.
I still have yet to find the time/motivation to get the tank in the blaster. I suppose I'll work on it this Friday after school..
Nothing else to report really. I found a local store that carries Hammerite Rust Cap, which I've been reading good things about. It's cheaper then POR15, I can buy it locally, and is UV stable (unlike POR). I'm thinking I might go with Grey on the frame, just to shake things up a little bit
If you get rid of that saddle tank, don't scrap it. There are a lot of people out there looking for parts for '79 saddle tank parts and they are Holy Grail hard to find
I'm also thinking about getting rid of the saddle tank, because I don't really need it, and makes routing duals easier.
Jameson, Maybe you should keep the saddle tank and ditch the rear. That way, you can route your duals up the right side then split them and put your spare up under the rear like on every other newer Ford. Just my 2 cents because I have the rear only tank and have to mount the spare in the bed.
I will take a picture of the mount in my bed tomorrow so you can see what I have. My issue is that I am thinking of a bed tool box and will have to move the tire. Also, takes up room for hauling my dirtbikes.
