Got my valve covers in the mail on Tuesday (gotta love Amazon prime free 2 day), but haven't had any time to work on my truck until today
While I had the front of the truck in the garage I decided to do a little engine cleaning. Used LA's Totally Awesome spray, non diluted, for cleaning things. The stuff is cheap, and works amazing on just about anything. I cleaned up the front of the block, cleaned the runners and below the runners on the intake, and the carb
Started out
Took of dist. cap and wires so it'd be easier to clean around. Re-routed the wires around the front of the cylinder heads.
Here it is done
Going to look for a different coil bracket. The one it has pushes it up against the a/c pump and the breather
Started in on the trailer hitch for the second time. The first time I painted it, I used an angle grinder with a wire brush to clean it, and I didn't prime it. Figured I should probably go back and do a better job with it, so took it down and got it in the beadblaster
That looks awesome! You did a great job. Motivates me to clean my engine up1
Thanks
Got a couple things the other day from pick n pull
Tailgate trim. Haven't seen this style before. I've seen black fill (XLT?) and a white fill, but this is the first no-fill I've seen. Working on getting that dent out today
Also got a set of front tow hooks. They need a bit of cleaning, but nothing wrong with them.
Looking into a possible engine problem right now. The rockers that are in are PRW rollers for a Chevy 454 engine. Over on 460Ford forum, the guys are saying they have the wrong geometry for a 460... Talked with the machine shop who did the work and asked why he put 454 rockers in a 460. He said that all across the big block spectrum, the roller rockers from PRW are the same. Doesn't matter if it's a 454, 440, or 460.
Got the dent for the most part worked out. Looks halfway decent.
Everything was good until I had to go get screws for it. I took another trim screw that I had with me to Ace, and was just going to find one that matched. Simple right? Well the first time I went home with 4 #10 stainless screws. Didn't fit through the clip on the trim. Went back, and took the trim that says ford on it, and went to match. And we found the weirdest thing. The holes were neither #8 (too loose) or #10 (too big). Browsed the metrics for awhile, still didn't find anything. Ended up just getting a whole new set of clips and screws
I just got that same tailgate handle panel with the black inner (not mounted yet either) and I do believe it has 3 small red square clearance lights on it that are factory installed? Anyone even seen that as a order option?
And jgavac thanks for the pic, now I have a idea of how its going to look.

I don't think its factory. Sounds like dually running lights
Started on exhaust work today. Pulling it apart, and I'm going to start cleaning and painting to slow down rust. After I took the muffler out, I couldn't help but to start it up.
This is what we did at first, Notice the funky turns at the end
This is what I came up with today.
This moves the muffler about a foot or so closer to the engine, and move the exit point about a foot farther forward then before. Currently sandblasting all the pipe sections so I can paint them. After the blasting is done, I'll weld it together and then paint/clearcoat

Reason: Fixed pictures
Got started on painting the muffler today. I was going to use those recycled pipes to make a turn out, but decided against it. I'll pick up a 45 degree turn down at some point. Hopefully this summer or in the fall, I will be converting to duals, running pipe under the rail and having the mufflers on the outside of the frame.
Beadblasted the muffler to give paint something to adhere to
2 coats of VHT 1300-2000 degree flameproof flat black, 2 coats of the same in clear
Those turned out great. Looks sweet. BTW, have you done anything to that sweet Caddy yet?
Thanks
Those pictures disappeared... Have to get those back soon...
Done nothing to the cadillac except break part of the exhaust off. Resonator at the end rusted away and fell off at work one day. Probably won't do much on it either, because all my money needs to go towards my truck

I don't know, that Caddy is pretty sweet. I saw an 84 this weekend at a classic car auction, 1 owner. It was totally sweet.
Like I said, I didn't use the parts for a turn out, so here is what I have now.
My dad wanted a turn out because of the resonance inside the cab is bad around 2K rpm. I put the 45° off my Cadillac on, but I didn't like how it changed the sound (slightly), so I took it back off.
Picked up a older Cobra Super 40 CB radio from a friend. Looking into a different antenna mount once I decide where to mount it (Ideas?), and a PA speaker.
Lastly, permanently mounted the police siren that I have. Currently have the steady tone wired into the horn harness, and will wire in the yelp mode later this summer.
Got a CB radio from a friend a few weeks back. Older Cobra Super 40 with a 3.5 foot whip. I don't have the radio mounted anywhere, but I did get the antenna in a temporary spot.
Took the coil thing from inside a plastic casing (half of a magnetic base), and shrunk wrapped it to seal it.
Found a handy hole already drilled in the bed up next to the window on the drivers side. Made mounting easy.
On Sunday I tried stump pulling... I was only able to get one out the other one was a massive forked one. Burnt through 3 bolts and one of those oval shaped chain connectors trying to get it out.
