I haven't had much time to do anything lately.... Just started to refinish the spare tire holder pieces (under bed style)
Couple quick questions
Has anyone ever used Heartthrob exhaust products? My dad was going to get me a new muffler for xmas, and I had a Cherrybomb glasspack listed. He found a glasspack for $20 less made by Heartthrob. I've personally never heard of them.
Secondly... If I end up getting the cherrybomb, the in/out pipes will be 3 inchers. My exhaust right now is 2.5 inch. I can go up to the 3 for the muffler no problem. My plan was to replace the section of pipe from the muffler on out because mine is rusted and full of holes (Using 3 inch pipe). If I do so, can I go straight out the back of the truck? Or do I have to make the turn like the stock does? I have the under bed spare tire.
Thirdly.. Has anyone used GLOShift gauges? I was going to get a set of three, and they don't cost that much (7 color change). Are they a good quality? Tinted Vacuum Gauge

1. Heartthrob was featured in 2011 on Stacey David's "Gearz" show on Speed. The owner started out making house branded exhaust components for JC Whitney, Napa, and a few other companies. They recently branded themselves for their own line of components.
2. Dual 2.5 inchers or a single 3-inch is fine for up to 450 HP. 3-inch duals are too big and hurt low end torque due to their reduced backpressure. There is no penalty for going 3-inch after the mufflers or glasspacks but the engine needs some feedback for efficiency. So yeah, there is thing as too big of an exhaust system given certain combinations and HP levels.
3. Never heard of GLOshift. I stay with the reputable companies like Stewart-Warner, Autometer, Sun, and VDO.

1: Oh ok. I had just never heard of them before
2: I've been reading up on that. It would end up being the stock 2 into 1 2.5 inch pipe, upsize to 3 for the muffler, then go 3 out the other end.
Spent yesterday evening doing a temporary fix. Under the drip rail on the passenger side, there are rust holes that lead into the cab. Wasn't a problem during the summer, but now that winter is here, moisture is getting in and condensing on the roof, and dripping down onto the seat. Which is a problem.
Brushed loose rust off with a wire brush, cleaned it with solvent alcohol, then used a tube of silicone to fill the holes (Couldn't find one of the JB weld tubes or my 2 part putty). Its just to keep moisture out until we can get it fixed
Found I was leaking a little ATF the other day, so I decided to do some "housekeeping". Put it up on ramps, and re-tightened the trans fluid pan bolts, added another quart of ATF, then went around and re-torqued the oil pan bolts (All were pretty loose)
Came home from school today to find about a quarts worth of ATF on the driveway. Went under, and found that the front passenger side corner was leaking like a sieve. Checked bolts, tightened to spec, and still leaks. Have to wait until Sunday before I can drain the pan to check the pan gasket for damage
Leaks are annoying. I've been jacking around with a leak of ATF in my daily driver (Caddy), also in my wife's daily driver (GMC Denali), and just recently I've noticed a leak in my 74 F350. This leak was a little easier to figure out (everything is easier on the F350) and it's the power steering pump. I suppose the seals are bad so I'll replace the pump with a rebuild. As far as the Caddy and Denali....I can't even tell where it's coming from!

Amen to that... It's a pain trying to do anything on my dads car ('07 Dodge Nitro) , or any of our other cars for that matter because they are so dang complicated
Got some stuff for Christmas that will be going on my truck in the near future. Heartthrob 36" glasspack, sunpro gauges (tach, vac, oil pressure), sealed beam halogen conversion lenses, 6000K HID headlights, and a Pioneer stereo head unit w/ 2 6.5" speakers.
Worked on the headlights today. As with everything, nothing ever works the way it should
First problem: The dust shield that came with the lenses wouldn't fit over the mess of the wires that comes with the hid bulbs. Cut it to get around the wires, taped it all back up with aluminum ducting tape
Second problem: The conversion lens setup is thicker then the stock headlight, so it sat further forward. That meant the stock trim/retainer screws wouldn't reach the holes. Found some longer ones, and made it work
Found locations for the ballasts. Drivers side went above the fender, while passenger side went on the radiator support between the battery and the radiator
Ran the wires across the front following the horn wires.
Got everything hooked up, and it worked (surprisingly). I'll get pictures later of how they look in the dark.
I know a lot of people hate HIDs. For me, 95% of my driving is on wooded backroads, with an abundance of deer, and no other cars. We put HID's on my dads car 2 years ago, and they help a ton for spotting deer on the sides of the road. Even though this truck could probably hit a deer at 55 and have only mild damage, I don't want to take the risk.
That looks pretty cool. I was just looking at some similar replacement bulbs/lenses for my 74 F350. Do you know how much brighter your set up is supposed to be over the stock halogen set up?

Thanks
I imagine its a lot better. I'll know for sure later when its dark. I know it made a huge difference on my dads car. The light pattern is larger, and covers more of an area. And the light throws really far
