I thought when the "CEL" came on, the computer stored a code. I hooked up the scanner and it said, no codes.
What is up with that? Anyone?

I tried reading a code when the CEL was on and the truck was still running and now the scanner says, "No link".
Does this sound like I am having a problem with communication to the computer? One of the things I did right before the truck started was to disconnect the harness going into computer and just reconnect it. I am now leaning towards the PCM pigtail or the PCM.
What would you guys do now? Can't get a code, and I am losing communication at my OBD.

Well I think I am dumb. All the scanners we have been plugging in are OBD II. I think a 95 ford powerstroke is OBD I, isn't it?

I hope it is just air getting in the system now.
Where is the ipr located an dwhat does ipr stand for

IDM is the injection drive module, which supplies 100 plus volts to the injectors, located under drivers side hood latch, up near the firewall. It is an aluminum box about an inch thick and about 5 inches wide by 7 inches long, something like that.

Jeffrey, we tried an actron and a snap on. I think my Ca model has an OBD I, (6 pin) and it is underneath the passenger side dash. I could not locate an EEC-4 under the hood anywhere. I looked by the drivers side hood latch(near IDM), but couldn't find any pigtail for it.

The snap on should have read it. I did on mine the other day. Actually had to set it for a 95. I doubt

Is the fuel pump mechanical or electrical? Is it possible when the check engine light comes on the fuel pump has stopped temporarily, and my truck is starved for fuel.

Mechanical in the valley. The pcm doesn't read fuel pressure. It shouldn't be able to throw a Cel.

That's interesting. My user's manual says that if the CEL comes on, it means the fuel supply has been interrupted.
