That is the FPR .. You need some new O rings for it ...

There is a oring that sits in a grove in the furl bowl if you took your FPR off then you ether lost it or damaged it

Yeah, I loosened it and moved it out of the way to get to the IPR. If it is leaking really bad, would that make the truck not start? Is there just one o-ring in there, probably about 1/4 inch in diameter?

At least it started today. Only started after I disconnected the IPR pigtail and then plugged it back in.
I took the IPR apart and cleaned it, but maybe I need a new one.

I would say the pigtail is bad and has a short. Id get a pigtail and solder it in before I replaced the ipr.

For the o-rings look here, specifically on page 8 and 9
http://www.dieselorings.com/docs/OBSFuelBowlRebuild.pdf

maybe you lost the big o-ring in the valley of dead when you pull off the FPR.

Well, went to IH and got the little Oring for the fuel pressure regulator, put it on, and that cured my leak. Replaced the last pigtail going into the valve cover harness, went to fire up the truck and it won't do anything but crank. No smoke, nothing. I can't believe it started yesterday and ran for about 30 seconds and today it is dead. I've been cranking on it all damn day. Sick of this ****. I checked IPR harness voltage using truck truck ground and got 12 volts. After cranking on it for awhile I loosened two of those 16mm head plugs and it spit oil out. Yesterday when I got it running I still had the valve cover off and the injectors were spitting oil.
Now what, put on a new IPR? This is like being in a fricking marathon. I might have to take a hammer to it and beat on it for awhile.

I pulled IPR today and it seems fine except I made another problem. The little edge filter on the end of IPR was very hard to remove and I ruined it, but IPR seems to work okay. Where can I get another edge filter and what is its purpose?
I don't know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I made a new edge filter out of aluminum. Probably not a good idea. What does the edge filter do? I see some IPR's with them some without. You think that might be my problem?

Could be your problem. But I would change the IPR pigtail first before replacing the IPR<

The Voltage to the IPR is 12 v,A short would more than likely produce a blown fuse . Unless I don't understand what a short is ...

It is a final filter to keep junk out of the IPR ... Older tucks have them in the IPR , newer trucks have them in the pump...You made a new one?....
