The one about returning to unloaded has to do with adjusting your sway control/load equalizer bars. On level ground the excursions wheel wells should measure the same with and without the travel trailer hooked up. Likewise the trailer should be measured while hooked up so the trailer is as level as possible. To me it looks like you're already as low as you can go with your hitch and I would get one with more adjustment to it. You need to go down one to two holes based on what I de in the pictures. I like that you went with the four way sway control. We barely notice the 32' TT behind us.
I will order up the extended drop arm this week. Before I put springs all the way around on the Ex the trailer was level. Are the sway bars suppose to be level with the trailer frame?
No. The sway bars end up at what ever angle restores your Excursuin to its pre load measurements. You'll need to readjust the sway control/load equalizer ANY time you do something that ckanges the way the excursion sits. This includes putting an extra 600 lbs of people in the back seat and modifying the suspension in any way.
On my '05 EX there is an eye just to the right of the electrical plug housing that is part of the bumper frame. Can access it between the receiver and the bumper.
Like to spend a week at Sleeping Bear Dunes in August every year, but the Ex needed a tune up and Sleeping Bear Dunes was hit with tornadoes and straight line winds, shutting down some of my favorite locales.

Apparently my vacation next week is on HOLD!
Is Diesel Equipment doing this? Looks like their shop.
Great info on the breakaway cable. Is there a built in spot on the Ex's hitch that can be used?

Yes, that's it, the bumper chain eye, where you would hook the chains if using the bumper with a ball and no receiver hitch.
It's the perfect spot for the break away cable as even a total receiver hitch failure would leave it unaffected to activate the break away brake circuit.
They did the work on my Ex and did an awesome job. If you get a chance you should go over to the other side of the shop and see where they rebuild injectors.
Awesome thread. We just bought an Ex primarily because the Expedition 5.4L didn't like our new camper. I've never pulled a trailer bigger than a pop-up camper, and now have a 33' TT with a large slide out. I'm sure we'll run into a question or two for you all, but I'll finish Scrolling through the thread before I ask anything though.
new drop arm installed for the hitch. 10 psi in the bags. It got within 1/2 an inch of unloaded rid height. Ball height was 21 3/4. Tongue height was 22 5/8.
Put 50 lbs in the air bags and got back to unloaded ride height. towed it 20 miles just because and it was loose.
Raised the ball up 1 inch and tightened everything again.. Walked to TS and spent 80 in tools to tighten the ball up again. Towed the trailer home with no issues. very little sway when a semi passed. Responds to input quicker. Tongue is up ever so slightly.
Towed 65 miles away from the house for the weekend. I have never been able to tow comfortable over 60 mph since buying 2 TT's! We hit 75moh a few times. Set the cruise on 65 the rest of the time.
After ATS x/c's, air bags, 12k wd hitch, drop arm install, I think I almost have it right. I will raise the wd bar brakects up 1 on the trailer for the return trip home on Sunday and see if it helps out at all. It is just a tad wiggly.
But the wiggly part may just be me since I spun the X and 1st TT on the 5th time out last year. My pride will never recover from that incident!
Wildman- I am in the same boat as you. Still wiggly to scary at times. What is the drop arm? I don't think I have that. I am running the Husky Centerline WD system and 50lbs in the bags. Maybe I don't have the wd high enough?
