I think around 7 or 8 years ago there was a product called Hitch Buddy that was the same setup. I don't know if it's still available, but IIRC, there was a a huge safety concern about the product.

I actually had tried searching for a used Hitch Buddy about 2 years ago, we had entertained thoughts of pulling a 33'-ish 5th wheel toyhauler with the EX prior to deciding on the current TT. Could not find one at all, seems that they didn't really make all that many of them due to very low demand. I'm not aware of or don't recall any safety concern with them (they don't pivot at the TV, only at the 5th wheel) but that extra axle would add considerably to the already stupid high tolls around here. As Mark (mecdac) says, "We get to pay tolls to drive on roads that we have already paid for".

When I first got up here to Pa I was pulling the tt in the rain at 4 a.m. came to a toll with no attendant that didn't take debit cards or $20 bills. (only 1's 5's 10's) So I had to back up in the Dark in the rain with no spotter to go around to the ez pass lane that had no gate arm.

We finally just got our Easy Pass for the EX now too, now I won't get mad paying tolls when on a trip...............the aggravation will now be delayed until I see the bill!

I'm one of the last holdouts. I just can't get past the 'big brother' aspect of them.
We got 'em in Cali too Stewart; just not in your neck of the beach.
I know Sean, it's just not as commonplace as it is back east and seriously, as much crap as Cali gets (rightfully so) one thing that's nice is we don't have turnpikes everywhere.
If you ever rent a car up in ezpass land. Make sure if it has the rental ezpass that you hide it or yank it out if planning to pay tolls with cash. The only thing more aggravating than paying tolls is getting a bill to pay them twice!!! No fighting it either. Crooks.
Toll's, I've never seen one in my life but i'll be dealing with them shortly as i'll be in Chicago in July. I plan to get an EZ pass with the rental car so i don't have to worry about it until after the fact. Good idea?

... and realize they charged me the 18wheeler rate!
