One of my horns didn't work at first. I just had to turn the adjuster slightly to get it to make noise. Then finer tuning to get it to match the other horn.
First thing my father would do when he got a different car was retune the horns to different sounds, not matching. When he came home from work, he would blow his horn at the end of the street. Us kids would recognize the distinctive sound and know it was time to head for home for supper.
Have you thought about trying some of the bigger antique truck museums to sell it? There's NATMUS in Auburn, IN, ATHS in KC, AACA in Hershey, PA and some others. I'd be surprised if they wouldn't have an interest in it.
Rob, I haven't thought about the other museums. Thats a great idea. The Fire Museum of Greater Chicago and the Ft Lauderdale Fire Museum will be supporting my book. I am seriously considering getting the 1000 copies. For what I would have to pay to get 250 copies could get the 1000. I think I could sell the 1000 but it will take a while. Once I start showing the truck it may be easy to get the copies sold at a reasonable price of $15. The printing company make a really nice book. They did an excellent job on my first book and it has held up well.
It's a great story and I think if you do the promo book signing tour to support it it should do well. If I show up at a bake sale where you're speaking about this I'm buying a book!
How about a national firefighters organization? I'd have to think most firefighters would be all over it.

Yes Keith, take a summer tour to all the big car shows, set up a table to sell signed copy's of your book.
What a great summer that would be for you and your boys.
Bring along a roll back service truck just in case though.
I think what he really means is, take a summer and cruise that beautiful truck around and give all of us FTE fans a ride so we can wail on the siren and flash the lights....LOL

I keep trying to use the fact that I'm close to Chicago to get him into Central IL with his truck!... We could cruise from here to Chicago on Old Route 66 with sirens and lights going. We could stop every few miles to pick up more FTE members and of course sell a few books.
38 Coupe - I am looking for a nice used vintage set. I have a pair that was on the truck (although not original as the original ones were broken by vandals) but the shaft is too long and will interfere with the steering wheel. I need a roof mount one with a four inch long shaft.
I bought a RV cover on eBay and will have it this week.
My next-door neighbor's son had a birthday party today so I gave them all a ride.
