Road trip to Keith's! If we all got there we could get into firemen costume and ride around...

That said, if I am ever in your area I would love to see your truck.

Atta Boy Keith!!!
Thats what I've been waiting for. Woohooo!!!

I gotta say those boys of yours showed a lot more restraint than most of us truck nuts would have shown....LOL....we'd have wound that baby up and irritated the whole neighborhood.

Thats very cool! You run in the parade is going to be fantastic. Man I wish I was closer I'd gladly volunteer to ride along
Bobby

I agree with Bobby. I'd still be playing with the siren. It's getting closer to the finish line.

I couldn't help but notice one thing though, the hood hinges attached to the side if the cowl are touching the fender. I'd hate for you to accidentally chip the paint.

Thanks Guys!! Free rides for all my FTE brothers

Bobby, I was restraining the boys .... I'm the one who had to stand in front of that loud siren!!

Ilya, that video was from last week, now that the hood is on they no longer touch the fender plus we had some tape on the ends to prevent scratches.

My materials for the letters and striping came in ... too bad we can't have it installed before the parade. Maybe afterwards or Sunday but it will be on this weekend stay tuned for some pics LOL.

I'm in for the wearing of the fireman costume! How fun would that be to gear up, take a call on the Motorola and go roaring down the Florida streets in that rig?!? I get dibs on pulling the rope for the siren!

Keith, I'm going to petition Mayor Raum Emanuel of Chicago to bring your truck back to Illinois for a celebration. Might help him get the vintage firefighting apparatus vote!

OK Guys tomorrow is the big day!! We gave the old gal a bath and detail today. My 22 carat real gold vinyl striping and lettering is at the barn and will be installed after the parade. Gerald brought out his laser and looking at period photos of the truck, we went over the correct placement of the gold vinyl. I have 2 8ft ladders and a long board to set up tomorrow so the installer will have no problems lettering over the windshield.

Enjoy the pics and video. (I hope I am not going overboard with the videos but sometimes its just hard to see the whole truck in just pictures)

I have a friend who will be shooting some video of the parade so I will post that when I receive it.

Keith,

Inshort, NO! You are not going overboard with videos. I think I can safely speak for all when I say we'll gladly drool over any video you post. The more the merrier.

Have fun at the parade. I can't wait to see the vids from that.

Thanks for the videos. The more, the better. What a beautiful truck!

Are you not going to have the bell installed for the parade?

My first thought was "Did he really say that?" I would say you are on the side of not enough videos.

There are a lot of cool trucks and build threads on this site, but I'm sure I speak for many guys here saying that you have captured our hearts with this build. We are there in spirit with every success and struggle.

Let me give you some reasons why your project is so popular.
  1. We are a bunch of big kids that love fire trucks.
  2. We love the history of these old trucks, and this one has a great history.
  3. This group probably has more respect for service personnel than the average person.
  4. Your attention to detail and dedication is superb.

I could go on.
You are getting close to the finish line, keep up the good work. We are waiting anxiously for the parade video.

Thanks Guys for the really nice comments. All the nice things you guys have to say really make my day!! OK, so more videos to come!!

Joe, The bell will definitely be on for the parade. I'm not going to leave it on the truck all the time its too valuable!!

The boys are so excited and have invited all their friends!! They have been waiting a long time for this and so have I!!

I should have some cool photos of the lettering tomorrow. I can't wait to finally get the FIRE PATROL decals & pin striping on. That is the last big project to get done
