Thanks jeff. I really appreciate it. At this point it seems like the efi is an investment with significantly diminishing returns. Down the road when I have more time and money, mostly money, I'll revisit this little escapade and get it done the right way.
Haha, this is my main mode of transportation, though. I found a guy who has the intake manifold, carb etc...to make this engine a carb engine for $ 250. Is this a good price? It seems like a better option than swapping in another engine.

Watch out for the distro gear. You do have to chafe distress too.
Okay, do I picked up the parts today, I got an edelbrock intake, holley 4 barrel, ignition and distributor for $ 223. I ordered the distributor gear already, now I need to order the lokar tv cable kit. I tried calling lokar a couple times but they were busy. Where can I get one of them?

jegs, summit racing, just a google search away with the part number
Absolutely. I'll probably head over there monday. I'll take pictures and such. From everything I have read it's a very straightforward deal. Let's see how true that actually is...
Okay, guys....So we got tyhe carb/manifold etc in. Got the new distributor, cap/rotor, etc... wired up the ignition with the thunderbird coil, we have spark, fuel and air...The truck turns over, but won't even start to think about starting.
For the duraspark ignition that we're running, the white wire is hooked up to the starter button, and the red wire is connected to the positive side of the coil/the on key position. The distributor is plugged into the corresponding plug coming off the ignition module, and the green wire is going to the negative side of the coil...
We went with this setup to simplify everything and now it won't even fire...Ideally I would just go with an MSD setup, but that's throwing even more money that I don't have into it...!$#*!%#&!!%$!!$#(_)@$@$*&@#

Joe and Andrew
do you have spark at the plugs? pull a wire off, screwdriver into the socket, shaft near the exhaust.. have someone crank..
and the distributor turns with the engine crank right?
is it timed right? top dead center # 1, ford #1 is front on the passenger side,
distributor goes counter clockwise (I always screw this up as I'm a chevy guy and it goes the other way)
