I got there a around 9-ish this morning at Cerp's place. He's one SLOW worker.
I had to leave at 1500 to meet up with some people about outdoor furniture I build, and it was also my Mother-in-law's birthday party this evening. (which I completely forgot about, but made it in time)
When I left, we had the old engine pulled, everything switched over to the new engine and had the new engine in and bolted down. The trans was mated to the engine but three of the six bellhousing bolts still needed to be put in. The torque converter was bolted up, the power steering was hooked up, the A/C was back together, the oil cooler was back on and some of the wiring was done.
I have a sneaking suspicion this won't be my last trip out there. We still have to do something with the old engine I left laying in his yard. Sorry man, I was in a rush. Let me know if you'll need a hand with fine tuning it, Cerp.
Well Oreillys screwed me again. The shocks that I bought last Saturday, ended up being for an E-150 van. The output shaft seal that I got last week that was supposedly for my tranny, was too big. I pulled my draft shaft once again only to find that out.
Oh yes I went back to the store and had a major pissy fit with them over this crap of giving me the wrong parts again.
Next Saturday, will be another wasted day, pulling my drive shaft once again and putting in the right seal. I made sure I got the right one this time. Damn if I'm taking their word for it . I'll also have to take the wrong shocks back and get the right ones. It appears my rear shocks aren't bad at all, if the struggle it took to get the one I took off back in place is any indication. So I'll get front shocks instead.
Thanks again Bob for coming over and helping me get my axle back in position, and with the struggle to put the shock back in. If it weren't for the wrong seal. it would have been a good day from then on.
I did go and do a side job after it all, so made a bit of money.
i got the bottom buttoned up and starter in got the upper intake manifold in and rearranged the wiring from where you had so that i could plug in the right stuff :P and all but 2 of them hooked up got the alt radiator and trans/oil lines in got the dizzy in on hopefully on tdc checked for power to everything and it works though damn clock on the radio won't shut off then i tarped it and dropped the hood on it cause it supposed to ran and called it quits for day picked up my cheap walmart oil to flush it and a new filter and highmileage oil to refill it later to and ummmmmmmmm a partridge in a pear tree. Hey, what do I know about wiring? You're the one that took it apart. If you gave me enough time, I coulda' figured it out. It sounds like you're about ready to fire it up. Throw a trash bag over the old block and I'll swing by when I get a chance to pick it up. ...or just drag it under the carport, not like you can hurt the crank in it. Let us know how it works out. Remember to drop those two exhaust hangers by the cat so you can line up the pipe and manifold.
I'm sorry I ran out on you yesterday. I just ran out of time. Being in the sun all day didn't help either. Did I mention I'm allergic to sun? You should of seen me when I got a shower. My wife was all upset when I took my shirt off. I get red swollen hives all over me when I stay out in the sun too long. It ain't easy being a vampire, let me tell ya'.
Alan just cking that you still need those 77 grill/headlight buckets assemblies? I am making a JY run tomorrow and want to make sure you and get you the rest of what you need to do your grill swap.
Tried to get motivated to do something productive yesterday, but jet lag still had me wiped out. Am thinking I need to get under the bronc and finish the exhaust and......
sounds like you are getting close cerp!!! after you get it all together might be a good idea to pull the spark plugs and squirt a little oil in there to chase out any spiders..ha ha ha.. would love to come help ya but that trip is killer on me after a hard days work.......alan sounds like you did good getting as far as ya did..i had no idea you cant take the sun..was gonna invite ya over to fish on bull shoals a mile from the shop..but i guess we will just have to stay in the shop and work instead..ha ha ha ha ha
Looking for new radious arm bushings today,(orielly showed the wrong set on the computer..... AND in the book) change the oil and filter, need to do something about valve covers too. Looks like we took some water in last time at smorr. My pcv valve apparently came out, and left a nice open place for water, and the other valve cover has a breather cap, that looks rather unpleasant inside. I think i have another set of covers here someplace. If not they'll get plugged! Lee, it wasn't a problem coming over and giving you a hand yesterday. Glad we could help, and you were able to make it to you job you had lined up. Everybody have a good one! I'm sure gonna try... Unk Bob
