the blazer is dead on james river between republic and springfield where it decided to puke up all it oil...was driving all of sudden it sounded like a rod knocking then it lost its oil pressure and by time i got stopped it was pukeing it out on the side of the road nice and grey is didn't sound like it threw a rod but of course i forgot my dang flashlight gonna head that way in the truck to check it out see if can see what exactly went wroung. Anyone feel like picking up a blazer and towing it back to republic i dont have a trailer to haul it with
I can lend you a length of chain. I sold both my trailers. What didn't you button up that you got water in with the oil? Maybe it just decided to blow a head gasket? DON'T run it until you can investigate. Sorry about the luck. I hope it's something relatively minor.
I've seen oil filters explode for bad welds. But that wouldn't explain the gray oil. I hope it's not too bad. Now you have me worried.
ohh no...grey oil??? i have no idea what happened there it had clean anifreeze coming out of lower hose when i put it in the truck..did you take the rags out i had stuffed in all the holes..but that still wouldnt explain oil coming out. did you change the oil and filter when you installed it..where did the oil come out from?
serp is it possible the intake gasket slipped when installing..maybe letting coolant into the lifter valley?...that engine was running perfect when i pulled it out so i cant figure what could be wrong...let me know if you need something, i have no way to tow nothing right now..nothing is legal to drive but my s-10 4 banger right now..
I'm pretty sure it wasn't the intake gasket. I was careful not not to let the gaskets slide around. ...and the sealer around each port and water jackets had a day to cure before he ran it. I looked down each bolt hole to make sure the gasket was centered before I torqued it down. This was the first thing I thought of too, but I honestly don't know what could've gone wrong. I was being as careful as I could when I was there.
what i could tell with my crappy little flash light is that there didn't appear to be any holes in the block or oil pan. Whatever let loose was up front on the engine and i can't see it. I know the oil on the dipstick is still brand new and looks good but lost every bit of water out of the radiator as far as i could tell (straight water in case something leaked while driveing that way i wouldn't have to rebuy antifreeze to put in) I changed the oil and filter right before i left with a bottle of marvel in it to and let it sit and run for a good half hour in my drive to check for leaks and make sure it was all kosher. Did great like i said till i hit the on ramp at james river and it started to knock real real light then all hell broke loose.
would have posted sooner but since i was so close to springfield and still had to pick up the woman i figured i might as well head in and wait for her.
oh yea sword..nice detail work..i like the look reminds me of my stuff..not a bunch of store bought billet and chrome crap..just elbow grease..a little rattle can resto, and a few trinkets...nice job very clean look
Polishing the A/C compressor must of took a couple minutes. That engine looks great! You do nice work. I'm with you and Whiskey, I think it looks better to work with what you have rather than buy a ton of stuff. That's where hot rodding came from and makes more of a statement than a bunch of bought stuff all over a car.
