A customer walked in the store and sad this car hit a truck out here! So of course I go look, Ther is an old Toyota up against the back of my 83 4x4. I go back in the store find the long haired hippie kid, tell him him Toyota hit my truck. He forgot to put it in park. Messed up bumper a little, small crease and its tweaked up a little. Messed up the back of his rusty suv pretty bad. so after some talks about not wanting to get the insurances company involved. he offers me $100 cash! Happy birthday me. and the Ugly stepchild has another story to tell about how it kicked a Toyota ***.
Well the Expedition stopped it's shifting issues on it's own. However the wife was driving it home from work last night and got a flat, my son and I went out to change it for her and found that in the bouncing around from the flat one of the control arms on the rear axle gave up. It was rusted pretty bad. Ordered a new set of of Ebay that looks to be much better than factory, much cheaper than getting them from ford too.
got a chance to look at the blazer again today and did find a hole in the top of the oil pan about as close to the block as it could get without coming through the block. Probably took the water jacket with it would be my guess. Thinking about salvaging what i can from tghe 2 engines i have now turning the crank and throwing them together to make 1 motor and hope it last longer about the only option i got at this point.
The control arms are $200 each from Ford. I couldn't find a parts store that had a listing for them at any price. I got a set of after market ones for $135 on Ebay.
I had a pretty good day today. It was longer than I hoped, but progress inched forward on the Toyota engine. We gave up on the online vendor for the stuff they screwed up. We paid the extra at Oreily's so we could have the stuff tomorrow. I got the rod bearings in today, we also got the correct head gasket set. Tomorrow the rest of the gaskets will be in so I may get the rest of the engine build and maybe even stabbed in the car. Woo Hoo! That only took TWO FRIGGIN' WEEKS!!
Other highlights from today. I met Bob and Ka'Bluey today and he gave me the headlight buckets for my truck. (YAY!)
The owners at work bought some cars at a police auction. In the back of one of the cars was a signed die cast 1:24th scale Clint Bowyer Jack Daniels stock car. How cool is that?
Out of the same car came new sunglasses brand new in the packages for me and all my girls.
On the way out the door I mentioned my radio in the truck doesn't work, so the owner threw me a Pioneer head unit for it.
It's like I went on a shopping spree and didn't spend any money! Ya' just can't beat that!
