Hey Brian, here's hoping the car just didn't like running on water and blew a hose when it overheated. That's not good, but would explain the little knock (ignition ping) before the cooling system ruptured. The gray all over the ground could've been the "coolant" washing down that oily mess of a truck. I hope it's something easy. Let us know.
Check the trans fluid before you start it! If the radiator ruptured and broke the trans cooler, you could need to flush the lines. If you start it with water in the cooling lines, you'll wreck the trans in 10 seconds.
alan is right..i would rather see a guy do some real work...better in my mind than someone with deep pockets..it just shows you care about your truck and how it looks to you ..not impressing others.....
hey alan did cerp get his truck home do you know..i am worried about what happened..i know you did good work helping him and no fears on that part..i just wondering about little details that can be overlooked, young guys like "me" and brian are just not as experienced like some of you older type guys..
the blazer is sittin till i figure out a way to retrieve it and what not. The water was way to sludgey to just bee from washing off the engine but i guess its possible although unlikely cause that would be easy but thats just not how my luck has been working out for me here lately. The idea of pushing it out into the middle of james river and watching it get obliterated occur'd to me while I was out there. We looked over that motor pretty good before we dropped it into the blazer Whiskey so I don't know what went wrong. When i got it stopped it said it had no oil pressure and chugging and missing really bad and actually died before i got a chance to shut the key off. Didn't think to look at the temp gauge but i did look at it before getting on the hwy and it was only about a 1/4 way up the gauge. And it was just pouring out of the front engine not like a rod but like i blew a radiator hose a really really oily one lol. Guess we will see after I get done at richs today.
Good mornin everyone, hump day got to love the down hill side! Hey anyone know where you can get a real good no play steering gearbox for my 78 f150 it has alot of play in it and so does the other two that I have???
Ran into another dent side owner last night that is a member on FTE. His usernam is Melbatoast. I sent him a PM and told him to join us.
How I ran into him is I had a screw in a tire last night so I stopped by a local place I have used before to have it patched. I overheard him talking with a customer about a Mark VII he owns so I started BSing with him since I have a 97 Cougar. One thing lead to another and found out he owns a 77 4x4 and was a member here.
i know you did good work helping him and no fears on that part..i just wondering about little details that can be overlooked, young guys like "me" and brian are just not as experienced like some of you older type guys..
I've only been doing this for around 30 years or so, so I'm not that old.
Nobody's perfect. I make plenty of mistakes. I just pull enough stuff out of my butt to look like a rock star every now and then so people don't remember all the stuff I messed up.
I got the trans in the '98 F-150 at work today. Done, and....done! They only left me 5 quarts of trans fluid for a reman trans. .....didn't quite fill it. I had to go buy 7 more quarts, but at least I can "X" something off the list of stuff to do. The Toyota is still a freakin' problem. These knuckleheads I got the parts from aren't going to get any of my business after this fiasco.
I needed a crank and bearing for a Saturn, and a crank, one rod, bearings, and the head rebuilt on the Toyota engine. TWO WEEKS later, we still can't get the right parts to the shop. I just realized they sent me the wrong dang gasket set. I was going to assemble the top end, but now I can't even do that.
yea i started helping my dad and uncles play with the old dirt track cars, and hot rods back in the late 50's..still love those old flatties.....didnt get my own till about 64.. almost got dis-owned because i ran chevys as a kid..been having grease under my fingernails ever since...just can't figure why i havent learned anything yet..
Brian it was good to meet you today! Rich and Penny......... Allway's great to see you two any chance we can, your just good people! Tim is stoked looking at the Bronco's you have in the back 40 Rich..... you may see that boy again! That red 79 is too sweet to part out for Ka'Bluey. I have the right floor pan, just need to get off the keester/**** and start doing something to that ol' truck. I want to give him to Tim after it's done! He's a hellofaboy! Alan I have the headlight buckets here at the house from Rich. We'll get together so you can get them. I'm gonna put off the grill and shell for now. I really need to get the brakes working better, hoping it's a master cylnder Ka'Bluey needs shocks too all the way around. If you know anybody that would buy that grill and shell go ahead and do that, things are tight here anyway. Brian hollar when you want a hand on the Ford, or da chebby after you get it home and if I can I'll get back out to the house. WHEWW beer nnumber 5 just down. Couple more then I'll go feed my neck! Thanks again Rich Yall take care. As allway's Unk Bob
ran by the blazer today to see if i could find any holes in the block or oil pan pulled the dip stick again and apparently i was just plain blind the other day cause the dipstick is covered in milkshake so looks like probably a head gasket. Still no clue where it was dumping out at to much damn crap in the way to see i really just want to light it up by side of the road and let it burn.
Yea that's a drag Brian, but hope that all it is. Nice to meet you and thanks to you and Unk Bob/Tim for coming up and keeping me company and lending a hand with the Bronco tank drop. Maybe next time we can get real busy with the laundry list of projects.
I picked up the wheels for my Chevelle yesterday and today with all the frustration at work, I decided to have some "me" time. I refinished one wheel before I started building one of the lounge chair frames. If I don't get any parts tomorrow at work, I'm gonna hit these chairs hard and see if I can finish two or three up.
