So my Ford buddy came over this evening, we set up the big ol shop fans to pull the exhaust our the front of the shop and push from the back. Started it up and did a full range steer check of everything. All good did not hit any heim edges and heims are parallel to each other. Pitman arm cleared the frame, the double stack of the linkage on the passenger side knuckle, lots of clearance.

Then jack stranded it behind the radius arms (to the frame rails) and put the front suspension in full droop and steer checked it again. Again all good.

It as running crappy so it was putting to much exhaust in the shop for the fans to handle it, so I shut it off and tired it up. Almost put the 37x12.50x15's on it with the bead locks, but only I did test fit one. But I like the 35x14.50x15's and the rims back spacing because it gives me a wider foot print and more stable feeling.

Plan is to get it outside the shop and steer flex it again and set up the steering damper to let me get the most out of its compression and extension ability. I will set it to help the knuckle steering stops "stop short" of MAX MAX and the shock to stop short the steering linkage at the same time the knuckles stop. I am sure the CTM ujoints can take it, but I do not want to be replacing them brand new joints any time soon. Same for my new hardened 4140 chromoly axle shafts.

Tomorrow I am going to test the front receiver and get in the end bay and use the chain lift to pick it up and then the Badlands to stuff one tire. I also spent some time spiffing up the front fenders.

FYI best floor jack ever, rolls over... zip ties, extension cords, air hose, tools, helpers foot/toes or fingers...will roll out the shop one handed and down a gravel road. Rolls over a cats tail like it is not even there. Has a sand/mud pan under carriage, to help from sinking in. Has the extension mounted to it, and the tool to attach/tighten it down. You can lock the pump handle in to a 1/2 down and lift the front wheels to steer it under the truck. Comes with carrying handle.

Well I got the steering damper connected. Did a full steer check to make sure it does not restrict my steering limits, but made sure it hits its internal stops, just as my knuckle stops do also.

So ....now is sounds (push on brake pedal, RPM's increase) to have a vacuum leak. I bet after I insp all the normal areas that get those kinda leaks. I bet a power brake booster replacement is next. Jeesh, glad I have one on the shelf.

Well the power brake booster did not get changed yet...but I got more "stuff" done. And even started it and drove it out of the garage. I checked for any other vacuum line leaks and 99% sure it is the brake booster. So it is getting changed tomorrow after work. Well that is the plan anyway.

Power brake booster is replaced, I now have good solid brakes. Now I am having a trans shift issue on my short test drive. Time to check that vacuum line and the trans fluid level. Always something.

Well a quart later (where did I loose a quart of fluid?) and all is sort of well, it still seems to be on occasion not up shifting as it should. As always....always something. As is, it's going on the trailer and getting dragged down to the Ozark Mountain Run all Ford truck show in Branson Mo next weekend.

I said last year I was bringing it this year. As long as it makes it off the trailer it is all good...enough. Now if it makes it back on the trailer, under its own power, that is awesome enough for me at the moment.

Loaded and hauled it to the Ozark Mountain Run all Ford truck show in Branson Mo last weekend. Had a absolute blast hanging out with fellow FTE Missouri chapter members. I was the only early Bronco there and there was one other 79 Bronco...at all at a Ford truck show. I was talked into doing the "Slow Crawl". How SLOW can you go in 60' with no brakes and NO stopping. I put it in 4 low and low 1 and crawled and slalomed my way to a almost win. I got beat by 1/10th of a sec...I still won a home made plaque for effort, so that was cool. Yes I am a 4 strapper.

Sure enough hauled a Ford Bronco to an all Ford truck show with a Dodge diesel. That is my primary tow rig, so is what it is.

The 4 rigs next to me are Missouri chapter members also.

98 Ford's registered for the event.

Slow Crawl.

Cool home made plaque for sure.

That 66 with the flares is 2wd and double A arm front set up, that is way cool.

We have had some G2G's over the years like at the Off Road Jamboree (when they had one in Springfield Mo). We have meet up at the Lake of the Ozarks park a few times. Even pulled off one at the Table Rock Lake pavilion in late oct. Also at the park by the Springfield Mo Zoo/fairgrounds. And at one FTE member shop that has his own 79 Ford Monster truck. This is the 1st big actual car show that we managed to meet up at. This one below is at the Jamboree, A LONG TIME AGO.

our’s are less off rd than on. Many are show (older or new ‘fixed up’) style vehicles.
Off rd style round here is on public (or private) property. Not any parks w/in several states
permitters. Meet ups might be more abt face time, stories, memories and interface.

Really...here are some leads for you to get your "4 wheeling" on.

A quick Google showed that Massachusetts has many places to go off-roading, including state forests and trails:
  • Beartown State Forest: A 12,000-acre forest in the Berkshires with trails for hiking, mountain biking, and some off-road vehicles
  • Pittsfield State Forest: Another Berkshires forest with a large network of multi-use trails for off-roading
  • Hickey and Peeskawso Peak Loop: An off-road driving trail in Massachusetts
  • Cheshire Harbor Trail to Mount Greylock: An off-road driving trail in Massachusetts
  • World's End Trail: An off-road driving trail in Massachusetts
  • Rock Circuit Trail: An off-road driving trail in Massachusetts
  • Wachusett Mountain Old Indian, Stage Coach, Bicentennial Trails: Off-road driving trails in Massachusetts
  • Southern Middlesex Fells Loop: An off-road driving trail in Massachusetts

I can go to my back yard, cross the creek and then I have some obstacles to get around on that I built.
