Mabell looks like fun for sure. Ben B needs to put in a hand throttle (on the stick) for the manual trans. That way you can 2 foot drive (clutch and brake) and handle throttle the power and save the clutch slip and rock smack.
This is NOT a RC car pic, I know this trail head, it is the start of Double Whammy. He is at the bottom on the L/H side of the start area. I tried to climb it once before, but I stopped before I ended up like this guy. Dang that is a SOLID roll cage.
So I think I just found a lead on a complete 1988 Fox Body Mustang with a EFI 5.0 HO, with auto trans mission. Motor and trans already pulled. AND....I can get the rest of the car (convertible) for a great price. That way I can get all the engine compartment elec harness, the 5.0 HO computer and all the rest of what ever I might need to swap it in the Red Bronco. Fuel tank to retain the intake elec pump. Once I get what I need the rest is going back on the market.
I’d like the “Y” pipe if possible.
I believe it will fit my ’85 fox-wagon (LTD / Marquis).
It may B currently true dual all the way back. My loss.
I have the 3.8 and some say it will fit mine.
Dang dude let me at least get it bought and dragged home before I start parting it out. It is a 1988 Fox Body Mustang convertible with 91,000 on it. I plan to go get it fri or sat am.
Well I went and got it today, tractor set the eng and trans in the tow rigs truck bed and the ol winch dragged the car on easy enough. Now to get then motor inside and separated from the trans and on an eng stand. This is a winter project in the making. I lifted the hood for 30 sec to see if it had the rest of the parts I need. It did and NO I did not look for your Y pipe, but I will.
So I got that deal on a 1988 Mustang EFI 302 and... the rest of the car that it came out of. Chad it has no exhaust system/pipe on the car, sorry NO Y pipe for ya.
Well had a FTE buddy over and we were going to do some fine tuning on the ol red Bronco. And right off the bat we discover a hidden (down under the front of the carb) vacuum port that the rubber plug has dry rotted off. No wonder it runs like crap all of a sudden. In all my dang shop supplies no new rubber over plug...WTH?
So I am going to do the short piece of rubber hose and a bolt trick and maybe that will help the idle issue. Always something....
I had to resort to the folded over hose and hose clamp setup before. I complained to the parts store that the rubber plugs or caps that I bought were rotted by the time I got them home.
I used to use golf tees, but that was just for temporary tuning work and such. Otherwise they work their way out too quickly!
I'd forgotten about the fold-over-clamp trick. I still have so many spare bolts that I always just default to the old "bolt-n-silicone" method.
Looks suspiciously backyard mechanic stuff, but it sure does work. And works a TON better than those crappy dry-rotted caps!
Now I am thinking just where else do I have some of those dang cheap rubber caps that need the vacuum line and bolt (or fold) trick. I know the Bruggy has one or 2. At least these will be REAL easy to access. The Bruggy aka 73 Bronco...yes it is fun to drive.
