My local Oreillys auto parts store has a holiday sale on the ez downs for $19.99! Just thought those of you that haven't bought one yet might want one. I would like to think that all oreillys have the same sales. I just bought one for a friend because he loved mine so much.
So i ordered one of these from Dee Zee and got it today. I put it on before in the dark (stupid day light savings) everything went well till i realized i stripped the gold thing that we stuck in the hole on the tailgate (i forgot the name of it). Now its very loose and make the strut pop off.
Does anyone know where i can get another one of these? or do i need to call Dee Zee to order maybe just that part? Has thing happened to anyone else? i woder how it will be to get that thing outta there!

It's called "Nutsert" or self-anchor nut.
I don't think you stripped it. If it's still very loose, you probably have not tighten it enough, to complete anchor the "Nutsert" you need to make 9 revolutions on the nutsert tool, another word turn the M6 Allen bolt 360o - 9 times.

Oh trust me, i stripped it. I left out the embarassing part. I made it so tight the washer snaped and flew about 20ft in the air... I could not see **** to mark the nut and turn it to know how many times it went around, bit it went around a lot!... my fault i know...
I'm sure you are not the first one, DEE ZEE probably can send you a replacement. As to how to remove it, I would just leave it there and see if you can mount the replacement on the passenger side.

No a bad idea.. I don't see why it can't mount on the passenger side right?
Does everyone strut make a lot of noise when coming down? mine is very loud, i hear what appears to be fluid/air moving. Doesn't bother me though, just curious.

Sure it the strut and not the hinge. Some have had this and a little grease on the hinge fixed
Ok, well I spoke to Dee Zee today, they said this kit they do not have any replacement parts available to purchase yet for 6 weeks. They only have new full kits in stock. So before i spend another 30 bucks, does anyone here have an extra kit they dont need the "nutsert" from? I will spend up to $10 for the nut sert and the bolt that goes in it. Any more i guess i will just buy a new kit. Anyone selling those cheap too?
