FYI to those reading this thread : Try not to confuse the pics posted by AverageX and those posted by quader94. Had me goining for a bit.
Guys quader94 is my son .I asked him to use his camera for a close up . The other pics are my blackberry. They are ALL my truck an 01 EX
The concern I have is the pics quader 94 posted show wear. On the edge of my end caps the edge is wearing away . Do you think it's ok if I just re-use new O rings ? or should I get a recon or new ?

If you guys say "go" with new O rings I'll order a set from DieselOrings and have them overnight them and reinstall the cooler I have. I went out in the garage and looked at the caps . The ( first) O ring sits back on the neck of the cooler so maybe that erosion isn't an issue but I don't want to take a chance. Ford has one for $290. O rings are $58.

By the way the inside of the cooler was clean as a pin. The element port was dirty with scale I have it all cleaned up . The other concern I have is if there is a leak on the inside coil . It looks really clean though .I have a cleaner (AqaSolv) that cleans anything. I could run a cup or 2 of that through the coil but it looks pretty good to me

OOPS, that's right. I forgot about the original thread. SORRY.

I would recondition what you have unless you've got a spare 300 bucks laying around. I have a spare cooler core from a oil cooler R&R. Very good condition (105K). The only reason I replaced it was I got a helluva deal on a reman core. I know you are in a short time frame, but if the one you have does not work out shoot me a PM.

I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thank you !
Here's a NEW question .???
Would it be a bad idea to just replace the O rings and not have the core tested ? It looks like new inside but the end caps are my concern as shown in the pics. It's a tough call. I have no problem spending the 300 bucks on a new cooler but if It's not the cooler than I just wasted money . I'm keeping the truck so I guess it's worth it ???

OK O rings are being overnighted . Should have them Thursday am. I'll try getting my current cooler tested if not I'll be getting one from a member
I'll put it back together then
I'll be looking for my next venture into filling the pan and cooling system to start the truck

Quick question . The nut that holds the block heater element in the oil filter housing . What gets put on the threads when re-installing. That baby was tight to get out but looks like the brass threads are clean and nothing on them See pic .
Thanks
Tom
