My truck was flashed during my 5000 mile service tonight. The truck runs and shifts great! I really didnt have a problem before but the shifting is even smoother and more crisp. I also like that the gears also appear on the readout as soon as it's put into drive now.

Hi Front Runner
Just curious. What is your PCM code on PCM aka sticker on computer from factory? Any idea what they dealer flashed it too? I am seeing slip timers between shifts increased in the newer strategies to correct rough shifting issues some have.
I dont have a clue. How am I supposed to find this out? What does increased slip timers do and mean?
Hi Front Runner
No worries i was just curious. The pcm code is on a white sticker on passenger side fire wall.. should be ex SHV6 , as for what the dealer flashed to they would have to tell you that... Slip timers are the amount of slip time in milliseconds between shifts. Shorter times can make shifts firm and quicker and longer times do the opposite.

That is good to hear. My transmission is not as bad as others have posted but it ain't right either. Very hard shifts when I go from reverse to neutral to drive or the opposite. Also it seems to get confused sometimes and can't decide which way to shift. I will have to get it in for the flash and see if that fixes it.
I'm taking mine in tomorrow for the updated flash. I wouldn't say the shifting is terrible but it is jumpy in first sometimes. First to second is a tad abrupt at times too.
For those who are going into dealer for a reflash... post up PCM code before and after..... Ask dealer when they reflash what are they reflashing too, most will tell you either a 7 digit letter number or the 4 digit letter number. This will be good info for those whom want a reflash down the road.. just saying... there are many, many different strategies from Ford.
Turns out all I got was the actual TSB # and not the PCM code. Sorry.
I will say that even though more driving needs to be done for the "re-learning" process, it does indeed shift much smoother everywhere. Taking off from a dead stop isn't as jumpy and the shift from 1st to 2nd is a lot better.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned, but apparently happened in my case, was that the CEL came on after the flash. Apparently this isn't uncommon because there's a mention of it in the TSB according to the tech.
If this code occurs, all the data (such as shift points and such) needs to be manually re-entered into the PCM. Time consuming apparently as it took them a couple hours to do. Could well have been that it was their 1st 2011 too, who knows.
Anyway, I'd say it's a worthwhile update and would recommend it to anyone whose truck falls under the TSB umbrella.
You asked about my fuel economy and I am getting about 13 around town and just under 17 on the freeway doing 80. I was sure hoping for better than that. I live in Utah and therefore I am not on level ground. Maybe that is acceptable for that kind of terrain. I don't know. My duramx got better though. It was an 06'

Thanks for the info!FWIW my 07 6.0 get's 12 city and the BEST I have ever done on the highway unloaded with probably a tail wind was 17.1 MPG's.(See sig for specs on truck)I would be more than happy with those numbers out of a gasser.

Nico963,
Your diesel numbers are very realistic. My stock 7.3 yield the same in the city and a little worse on the highway. My overall mpgs were about 15 with it.
Some diesel guys inflate mpg numbers, (now dont get me wrong some are tuned just right and yield good mpgs) but some owners are blowing smoke with numbers.
My 2011 Diesel really should get better than this. Is anyone seeing better numbers after the truck has more than 12k miles on it? Ford made such a big deal about the improvement in fuel economy but I am not seeing it. I bought the truck and paid a premium for it with the understanding that I might be able to justify the additional money over a Chev because of the increased fuel economy. I have to say I expected more and feel that with the technology of today we should demand more. I want my monster of a truck but I need better fuel economy out of it when diesel is 3.30 a gallon.
Can anyone link to the TSB for the 6.2 tranny reflash? It would help if I printed it out for my dealer - I haven't talked to them for a few weeks - but they weren't aware of it. He was gonna check - but it would be easier if I had the info before going in.
I'm not finding any links but the TSB number for the re-flash is 10-21-13.
My dealer wasn't aware of it either but found it once I told them what it was for. Be sure to let them know they may have to do the data re-entry manually if the CEL comes on after the flash.
