I have a 90 F350 with the 7.3 idi with a blown head gasket, I have a 99 F250 7.3 ps that I got for parts originally. Im wanting to swap the ps into the 90 and Im wondering what the biggest issues will be. I followed your whole swap, Im wondering what I can get away with as far as trying to keep the old dash and not tearing to far into it. If I have to I have to but Id like to stay out of the dash. Any and all info would be great

Good luck since the ECm is behind the dash in the cab, and the spedometer will be run off the vss sensor on the rear axle(to let the ECM know when to tell the trans to shift)
Ok so whats my best bet as far as the dashs go, take the 99 out and try to put it in the 90 or try to mount everything under the 90s dash? Am I going to have to rewire all the lights and radio or is it just the computer components? BTW I am far from a mechanic and I have very little understanding of any of the electrical. Also will the vss sensor attach to the rear end of the 90?
This is NOT a job for you then. You are going to have to modify the engine perches and complete electrical system along with changing the complete fuel system
Gotta Chime in, I'm doing almost the exact same swap. started with a 94 f350 with 5.8 E4OD, went to a 7.5 (from a 90, built an adapter kit for the wiring harness, PIA!) and a ZF 5 spd. now it is very slowly becoming a 96 PSD with a ZF. I can vouch, the dash wiring sucks. as for the engine cross member... just paid a guy to cut out the small block one and weld the PSD one in (they're not just riveted like we thought). Never attempt this swap without having and entire truck for a donor!!!
I plan to head down to AZ this summer and pick it up out of storage. The biggest challenges have been taking time off from my business since I opened up here in WY. The next challenge was finding something to use to go get it. Thats been resolved as i recently purchased another powerstroke (2010 6.4) that could haul it back. I should have a date to go get it this month. I am thinking August!
