Scored a right side exhaust manifold from the local salvage yard. It was in a huge pile of manifolds. Didn't think I would find one, but I got lucky today.

Seals

Yestetday, I changed the steering gear input and sector shaft seals. Was not to bad. Between the type F leaking for months, the pitman arm came off easily.. Unbolted easy. It is heavy and helps to remove the power steering pump and ps return line out of the way. I used the threads here to do the seals. Great idea to use screws to pull the seal. Took way to long to clean the outside of the steering gear housing and alot longer to degrease the inside/outside of the frame. The tubes inside the frame for the gear mount were packed with crud and dirt. So I cleaned those out so as to not fill the threads with dirt when installing the bolts.

I still need to bleed the system, torque the pitman arm and reconnect the steering shaft to the gear box and column to dash. Then hopefully enjoy and leak free truck. Of course until the next item starts to leak.

Does anyone know where to get a new cable for this 2002 E450? not at rockauto.

close up cable to water drain, 2002 E450 ambulance. (stuck open).

Looking good, and it looks like you are still waiting on that xfer case trim ring? So you do have the upper cab corner seat belt covers? Uou know you can use the Rite Dye trick on the seat belts.

Basically this...

Just pull the belt all the way out (to the stopping point of the reel) and us a gator or simular clip/clamp to hold it out and follow the directions on the Rite Dye bottle and have at it. Do not dunk the retraction reel.

Hi guys,

I'm looking on this forum for an answer to a couple of questions. Very cool to see everything that's been done on your trucks to keep them on the road.
I got my first pickup. It a F150 Custom Supercap 1977 with side mounted rear seats in blue. I'm looking to get a forward facing folding rear bench and other stuff

1. Where can I get a rear bench from? (I'm living in the Netherlands)
2. Looking for a sidetrim horizontally between the indicators
3. Can I build in cruise control, AC and power steering?

Thanks for your reply!

Well with you in the Netherlands that is going to probably an expansive upgrade due to the size of what need to be mailed to you. If you was stateside I am sure someone has one or knows of one somewhere. I actually have the two panels, meaning the seat part and the back that folds down. But no foam of vinyl cover.

Side trim between the indicators? You mean the side trim that goes from the front and to the rear side marker lights? Meaning the chrome looking trim with the black stripe AKA the "dent trim"? Repop vendors sell it.

And remember you need it WITHOUT race trac trim. Unless you want to add that trim on also? FYI if you do not have the dent trim mount "button like rivet heads" already there, they used put the plastic mount piece to mount the trim to, you are in for some work.

This is what it takes, white plastic and metal pieces and a rivet gun. And possibly separate metal retaining pieces are used around the side marker lights. Hole drilling time.

Cruise...tall order to get all the parts, you might be looking into aftermarket CC.

At least p/s in a kit form is out there on the web. Here is what it takes to mount the trim to a fender.

Yesterday I cut out the old rusty exhaust pipe and removed headers. This morning I installed my old exhaust manifolds and started cutting, welding, and fabbing up my fresh exhaust with a Flowmaster muffler.

It got a little messy using flux core wire in my mig. But, no leaks and she's all solid.
