I had quite a bit of blue leftover from doing engine block so decided to use the rest on the transmission and transfer case.

When you took it apart on the seal housing where the trans input shaft goes into the transfercase was there 2 seals facing Each other? One to keep fluid in transfer case and one to keep fluid from getting in transfer case from the transmission thru adapter?

Hmm. Not that I remember seeing. I may not have realized there were two gaskets there. Makes sense though.

I don't recall seeing two gaskets on mine either, on the transfer case or transmission tail housing that mounts to the transfer case input side. When I had mine apart, I used one gasket from the kit, but used PERMATEX Aviation gasket sealant on both the tail housing mounting flange and transfer case. Then I put the gasket on the tail housing and then re-installed the transfer case.
Before I started the driveline removal project this past January 2021, did allot of research on the forum and I read in an old post to use the spline lubricant, so I did. Actually had the spline lubricant on hand. Probably two years ago or a little longer read on the 1987-96 forum about MOTORCRAFT blue spline lubricant , some PVT or some name to that affect. Purchased a 5 oz tube from Amazon and finally ended up using it on all the drive line components splines, supposedly helps eliminative / reduce drive line spline clunks particularly on high mileage vehicles. I'm a little skeptical if the spline grease will really help reduce worn free play clunk, but I applied it and hope it lubricants the splines if nothing else.

Im referring to the actual shaft seal thats pressed into the alum housing that bolts to the transfercase then the adaptor goes around it all.

I see exactly what you are talking about now. I just pressed them out. Two seals back to back.

I'll have to look and see. It came in the rebuild kit I got.

Yes that one. . I have not received my kit yet. Thanks for the update. My shaft splines from trans and input on 205 were trashed. Rusty must have gotten water in there. Shes was a trail/mud truck in past life. So the seals are on the outside of the np205 input. Sealing the inside of the female spline on the transmission side/adaptor side of the seal to only be lubricated by whatever gets thru the transmission rear bearing and back thru the adaptor high enough to reach the spline...or wick its way down the mainshaft to the spline. Just seems to me thats a long shot of anything making it unless spend alot of time uphill incline with enough moving in the box to splash some back there..

Am I thinking about this right?????
Might be a good idea to add some sort of spline lube to them?

Mine is mated to np435

Finally installed the Quad-shock set up I got from twinzilla. I think the auxiliary shocks I got are a tad too short. But that's ok for now. I got them really cheap.

Also, I cleaned out all the dirt, swigs, and rocks from doing yard work a couple days ago. I rolled on a can of Rustoleum Bedliner five years ago. I highly recommend avoiding that stuff. Not a good product. It has been chipping up since it cured three days after applying it. I will eventually take care of this the right way, when I have time.

Dennis Carpenter's 1973-79 Ford F-Series Door Opening weather stripping showing the Pin Holes 4 1/2" apart.
Jetffixer-6 asked for a picture of the Dennis Carpenter door opening weather stripping via PM, but I was unable to attached the photo on the PM reply, so including it here,
