cody, i did some searching around on the hot retorque deal. It seems ppl are only doing this if they have new gaskets, ARP's, or fire rings. Since you have 2 of those i went a little further into it finding that ppl are getting them up to temp, then hauling a$$ to get the VC's and injectors out and retorque in the last sequence you did. i also saw one guy on PSN did one side then fired the engine back up, let it get back up to temp and torqued the other side.
With that said some people are also letting them get to temp, letting them cool back down and doing the retorque. Some also just torque them, let them sit for 24-48 hours then torque again with out a heat cycle. all of these methods seem to have gotten a little more on some of the studs. IMO maybe get it nice and hot and double team it with one person on one side and someone else on the other side, but to do that you obviously need 2 torque wrenches.
it kinda made sense to me to run it through a heat cycle or 2 and let it cool then do the retorque b/c metal expands when it's hot right? so letting it cool would maybe allow you to get a bit more on the studs? or is the point to seat the gasket further so we need the gasket itself hot to crush it further??
Neal, I got a 10ft stick of 8" chrome pipe from a friend that called me out at 2am to load his dually on a gooseneck and haul him home 80 miles away. He didn't have fuel money, so he gave me the pipe. Worked for me.
Travis, do you think we should do this torque before the dyno this weekend? If so, I'mma need your help for sure.

I'm going to say yes, we should do it. i can probably do it tomorrow if you want to work on it then. maybe today. just call me and we figure it out.
From my experiences and those I have seen that blow gaskets on the dyno I would say yes also. If you can at all do it I would.
Hot Truck BTW. I love it. Man I wish I lived closer to you guys.
do you guys go pull anywhere in the southern illinois/ indiana region? I would love to come watch you guys pull sometime. You should come up in the late summer for scheids in Terre Haute, In. It is usually a good time.
sadly enough even though Cody's new puller is lots of bada$$, i don't think it has enough for those guys up north. For whatever reason those guys up north have some really crazy trucks up there. we don't have trucks down here like they do. if Cody went up there he'd probably be pulling with some 1000hp+ trucks...
If you go to some of the smaller pulls there is still some good money. If yall want to make a road trip up here I could see where some are for you. I have a few buds that pull like 3 times a weekend. Just let me know. but its more of a hobby for them, more of a bragging rights thing

Hey guys- Im thinkin' you wanna get it runnin' up to a good temp. several times every day. somebody a few pages back said something like those heat cycles 'glue' the assembly together.
Quick couple questions-Did you loctite the threads on the studs at assembly? Anti-sieze? Have you put it under a load yet? If so, what kind of boost have you seen?
We're real anxious to hear and see it roll coal! You are planning on filming dyno day and posting those vids right away I hope
We're waiting with baited breath.......or in some cases.....bait breath

When you install studs you use either the supplied assymbly lube or motor oil on the threads so you can get a more accurate torque on them. i have a couple tubes of ARP assymbly lube here. gave one to my brother for when he puts his studs in his sled truck, one for my H11 studs, one i used on my F-150's ARP's, and a couple extras incase i lose some. haha. there will pretty likely be vids of BKP on the dyno. Yes, it has been under load. we drove it down the street after cody and i worked out his starting issue and cut the hood for the intake. IT PULLS HARD once you get the turbo lit around 3000 RPM and it yanks to 4000 RPM pretty good. no boost numbers as there is no guage on it yet.
