So here's a question for those that have done it, How do you do a hot "retorque" on the head studs? Do you pull the injectors? There are studs right under the injector solinoids. Since we aren't in a time crunch anymore, we need to to that I guess.

Well, the other day my fiance and I had a discussion about what happens in my pants when I see I nice truck. Honestly, I might have to change my answer to that question now! BWWWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That is sick!

I'll bet BKP is a rough ride, aint it?
Is there a story or other reason for the truck's name?

it's definitely a rough ride, but it doesn't matter on the sled track. it's definitely an awesome ride. if that thing had suspension on it then it'd make a really really mean truck for the strip and sled track, that's how well it moves once the turbo lights up. I'm sure there will be dyno videos ohhhhh..... in about ONE WEEK!!!

I have only done this on outboards so please take this with a grain of salt. After running it at temp. for 30 minutes. (your times may vary) back off each bolt ONE AT A TIME 1/4 turn and torque it to whatever # you are using in a crosswise pattern while the engine is still warm. I think this allows all the parts to expand to operating condition and then you put the hurt to 'em and show 'em who's boss. All metals expand at different rates and you may not need to back them off.
You could try tightening one without cracking it back, if it turns before getting to torque then I would not bother with cracking them.

Guys? Little help please?

Also Cody can you take some air outa the rear tires and drive it some every day or 2? I just think that the more heat cycles it sees the better before it sees full boost pressures. Thoughts?

Excellent Job Cody!! Been following the thread for a while and it's been enjoyable to say the least. Love the custom work you've done!

Although I've never done a hot retorque after installing studs, to do it properly you need to pull the injectors to get the ones under the solenoids. That's the only RIGHT way to do it. Do it after you get the motor and everything good and heat soaked.

I've done 2 sets of studs now. One replacing them one at a time with stock headgaskets, the latest on my new truck with new Fel-pro non-retorque gaskets. I went thru the normal 3 stage/2 sequence torquing and then added a 4th stage at 125 lb/ft in the same sequence as the 3rd stage. Put about 100 miles of easy driving on it, another 400 miles of moderate mixed driving, and another 500 miles of heavy driving while pulling a load. No issues thus far and I frankly have no intentions of pulling the injectors and such to retorque the studs again.

Yours though, it'll get pushed way harder than mine at shorter periods of time, so maybe it's not that bad of an idea!
