Well we didn't do as well as I hoped. But there were several factors involved. Number 1, I have no rear brakes to load the motor and spool the turbo. Number 2, it was a Mustang dyno, and they load it to what they "think" the truck weighs and how it would be running down the highway.
These are not the best senario for me. But we gave it a go anyway. And also worth mentioning, everyone that was there that we dyno with on a regular basis dynoed conciderably lower numbers than normal. We had 2 of our consistent 800hp Dodges pull 605, and 740.
Now with all that being said, the best I came out with was 466hp/699tq......Yeah, those numbers don't seem right. But that's okay. This is a sled puller, not a dyno truck.
And above all, I got to do the one thing I have wanted to do for almost 7 years now. I GOT TO SMOKE EVERYONE OUT OF THE SHOP!!!!!!!! And I did it in HIGH fasion! I ended up pulling about 6 times. We kept losing tach signal. So here are pics from my first pull and they shut me down at about 2800 rpm cuz it lost signal.
Now here is my second to last pull, which was not the smokiest. This pull was in 4th gear. My last pull, I pulled in 5th gear, and it was by far the smokiest, but we couldn't get pics because the camera could not focus from the smoke. AND....On the last run right about 3900 rpm's I blew the intake boot off the top. But it was HELLA smoky!!!!!
I don't have the video up. I'mma try to do it one time. If I can't get it, I'll have to let Bobbie do it, and post it tomorrow. So stand by for the video....... Don't forget, I haven't slept in almost 50 hours now, so if I can't get it, just bear with me.
ya i don't no how you'd get them off of your video camera. unfortunately since i was taking your pics i couldn't get video on our camera and nobody else got video on my camera either. thats ok though, you'll get them up eventually if you don't tonight.
I was a little worried you might not be able to load it enough on a dyno to make big numbers. these big pulling turbos are not easy to light. That is the big reason I haven't dynoed mine... I know I cant even get full boost out of it on the street running wide open in overdrive
I will usually pick up a good 5 to 10 psi of boost on the track compared to what I make on the street
She looked real good doing it. and like 475 and 700 aint bad ratings. You can definitely tell you got a pulling truck ha. I think itll be a good puller.
Cody, i heard what your talkin' about and i agree... got some stuff to look at. sure sounded better than mine on the dyno!!! haha. you could just hear the turbo screaming on mine and that's it. haha
