The New Sled Puller.

Well guys, it's been a while since I was on my hunt for a sled pulling platform. Some of you may recall I went to buy a truck but found out it was the wrong wheel base some time ago. It was a 96 F350 4x4 Regular cab dually. Well, it was a long wheelbase and I didn't want to cut the frame down for a sled puller. What I didn't know was that no matter which wheelbase I got (short, or long) They were both wrong.

What I wanted was a Reg. Cab 4x4 OBS dually I could put a bed on. Well even the short wheelbase cab and chassis is 4" too long. And In hind site, I prolly should have bought it. The guy wanted $1200 for it.

So fast forward to September 09. I finally found what I was looking for. I came to grips with the fact I was gonna have to change the wheelbase and was on the hunt again since the other one had sold by now. I'm searching Craigslist far and wide and low and behold, there it is, a short wheelbase reg. cab 4x4 dually 5 speed XLT. It didn't matter that it was in West Virginia, and I'm in TX. The guy wanted $4500 for it. I called him and sent him a deposit, and secured the truck. A week later, my best friend and I drove up there with a trailer and brought it home. 2652 miles and 42 hours later, it was sitting in front of my shop. (Yes, we drove it straight through)

So to start what will probably be a long build thread, here is what I'm starting with. His name is "Bobbie's Kitchen Pass" That should be easy to figure out, cuz the wife was NOT happy about me buying this truck.

So now your questions are gonna be "Well, what are you gonna do to it?" Well here's the short list of things that I have already purchaced and are either here, or on their way.

238cc Single Shot Hybrids with 200% nozzles from Rosewood Diesel
Terminator Dual HPOS
Swamps 76mm BFH Sledgehammer Turbo and mount
DI Ceramic coated headers
DP-Tuner again with custom switch
Dana 80 Dually rear axle (out of a dodge)
Stroud Safety's first ZF5 Bellhousing blanket
Fluid Dampr
Dually bed

Parts to come:
Custom one off Triple Disk Valair clutch
Airdog and Fuel cell
140v IDM
Driveshaft loops built by me
Rigid chassis (no rear suspension)
Custom weight box (All metal fab done by me)

I'm sure I've forgotten a bunch of parts, but it's 3am, and I'm at work, so I don't have my list. But we are gonna keep it black for now. And I'm gonna try my luck at fabricating a steel cowl hood (for rules, no fiberglass) and it will have an 8" hood stack next to it. This should be one bad azz OBS. I'm hoping to have it all together by April for the start of the season. But we will see. I've got a ton of guys helping me out, and even though I don't like to lean on others, I may have to this time. Either way, it's gonna be fun. So here we go again guys, stay tuned

Oh, and before it gets going, I would like to Thank Kevin and Kristi Hawthorne for selling me the truck and trusting that I was actually gonna drive from TX to get it. You guys are the best. I know you are excited to see this truck get built, so this thread is for you. (And all my FTE family) Thank you.

In these pics we just mocked up the bed to see the real difference in the cab and chassis setup and a normal dually. Here you can see the width is too narrow on the rear axle and it's set back 4" too far.

Jim, you don't count. Your like Power Stroke royalty, it's expected that you have all the awsome stuff. Not to mention, you were the legend that built a triple turbo Power Stroke. So zip it! LOL
