That is why I posted about using WiFi a few times, not BlueTooth. I don't think OBDLink MX+ can work with BlueTooth on an iphone.

On the iphone:
.
First you must have downloaded FORScan Lite.
.
Then plug the OBDLink MX+ into the OBDII port and turn the Key to "ON"
.
Go to settings

Go to WiFi

Turn on WiFi

Choose the OBDII network

.
Touch the FORScan Lite Icon to start it.
.
Touch the word CONNECT so the FORScan on the phone will communicate through WiFi with the PCM.

The OBDII adapter must be plugged in with the key on for the phone to find it. That said, I hear you and wish you well in whatever direction you choose.

The OBDLink MX+ works very well for me.

Did you load the OBDII app that came with the adapter? If so, then that is the issue (it is only BlueTooth I believe). You want to ONLY use the FORScan app (not the app that came with the adapter). If it isn't that, then I'm out of ideas.

I won't go out to my truck while waking up my wife, so this will be abbreviated for now.

Get into the truck and plug in your OBD2 adapter. I always turn to key-on - wait to start.

Go to settings on your phone.

Go to Wi-Fi.

Turn the Wi-Fi off.

Turn Wi-Fi back on. As it populates, you should see your OBD2 as one of the choices. Tap that. Then, you can back out and click on ForScan.

Click on Connect. It will take a few sweeps.

I tried it WiFi will not recognize it it will connect through Bluetooth and sys connected but nothing on the screen on any of the choices on FORscan I give up I’m sending back OBDLINK maybe try another OBD or just tear it down when the weather warms up hopefully end of next month and try to see the problem with my eyes and not diagnostics

Then it seems it's not a Wi-Fi, or the Wi-Fi is not working out of it.

The two adaptors I use are no longer available, and they were $20 and $25.

This one may be worth a try.
