Tell you what. I had the headers, exhaust CAI. and i was kinda dissapointed. When i put the BBK on. it really woke the truck up. I always wanted a Vortech but the 4200 price tag kept me from buying. Well searching Craigs list fri i found one w 10k on it for 1000. I'm laid off right now but i couldn't pass it up

I think you might have just sold a throttle body...dang it! Make sure you post something here and let us know how that supercharger works!

As for 4wheeling, I hope no news is good news!

I got most of it back together I will just have to get me another push rod tomorrow. I sure was glad to see just a bent push rod i just knew i was going to have to tare that motor back apart. That is a hell of a deal on that Vortec i would have done the same thing. Some time after this MAF upgrade i am going give this truck some boost also

Ok I finally got every thing back together no more valve train noise. And I fixed the header leaks for the last time too. I found that a 91 460 exhaust manifold gasket makes the perfect header gasket. And this has made a deference too all the problems are still there but there isn't no problem turing the tires to smoke! I will get it back on the dyno in the next week or so with the stock TB and the 61mm TB and then do the MAF upgrade and redyno. Thats my plans any way.

4wheeling79,
Didn't you say that it was about $20 for a dyno run? If you PM me your address, I'll buy you a run! This thread is sweet!

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk91/mudin660/TB.jpg I took a comparison pic before installing the the larger 61mm TB. I think this install really thru off the ECM now. I can't really tell any difference until i get higher in the RPM's. I will put it on the dyno next week and get some real world numbers.

This morning was dyno day. Here is a list of my up grades to date.
Rebuilt motor stock bore OEM parts keeped stock comp. 8:1
Comp cam .490 .495 212 219 @114 LS
Ported heads and upper and lower intake
Hedman headers and Y pipe going thru the cat and 50 series flowmaster
Under drive pulleys base timing set @12 and 50 psi of fuel pressure
61mm BBK throttle body TPS set at .97
out side temp was consistent from the beging @ 70 degrees thats why i did this in the morning i am trying to keep every thing the same

After all this i was rewarded with the the same power as i had before!

1st pull 229hp @ 3750rpm and 349tq @ 2802 AFR stayed 14.4-14.9
2nd pull 230hp @ 3750rpm and 350tq @ 2800 AFR stayed the same
added 5psi fuel pressure this brought me to 47psi total
3rd pull 246hp @ 3750rpm and 379tq @ 2850 AFR stayed 14.2-14.6
4th pull 231hp @ 3750rpm and 351tq @ 2800 AFR stayed the same (WIERD)
Now i took the BBK TB off and put the stock TB back on TPS @ .90 that was the highest i could set it and i brought the Fuel pressue up to 52psi
5th pull 229hp @ 3750rpm and 349tq @ 2802 AFR stayed 14.6-15.1
6th pull 232hp @ 3750rpm and 345tq @ 3122 AFR stayed 14.6-14.7
on the last pull i made no changes but i did it in 2nd gear
7th pull 226hp @ 3750rpm and 356tq @ 2750 AFR went 14.4-15.5

I am up for any ideas? I am not sure if MAF upgrade will fix all my problems and give me the HP that i am missing? I do think my injectors are maxed out as i have my regulator almost maxed out. And i can not riching up the AFR I can get my fuel pressure up to 55psi max and i now thats not right.
The MAF upgrade has got to do some thing for me and i think i am going to start looking for some 30lb fuel injectors. This truck is acting like it's got a governor on hp where it is cutting it off at 230hp. This is crazy i know with these upgrades so far hell i should of at least added 20hp on the low end. The BBK TB didn't even make a difference it made that one decent pull but would not back it up. These dyno sheets pretty much look just like the one from last time i was there.
Give me some ideas i am open for any and all ideas. GMK035 Thanks for the dyno time it came in handy.

That sucks for all that work and almost no gains. Maybe you have to break in the engine first

The only thing i can figure is it has to be that stock programed speed density? At cold start up this thing will not run until it reaches at least 170 degree's. And with the 61mm throttle body installed i found that it would not spin the tires any more. I now have the stock TB back on and now it will smoke the tires again. Thats wierd since they both made the same power. I did notice on the dyno today that at idel the AFR reads 26-27 way past the lean point and im pretty sure thats not right.

Maybe the people at the mass-air conversion place might have an idea...but then again, they are trying to sell their product. I'm sure someone will chime in with some possible solutions.

well since its sd id be willing to bet with the bigger tb your probably loosing vac at wot and so its freaking out the computer. plus you have to remember the bigger tb is gonna = less low end torque and more high end power.

How long does it take for the computer to compensate for changes like a different throttle body or a change in fuel pressure? Is that something that it can figure out quickly, or does it take time for it to "learn" how to best handle the change?

Also, why would you lose low end torque and gain high end power? Is it related to the vacuum issue you mentioned?
